Why is it that the bar for men is so high to be considered partner material, but for women just their beauty?

Because men are horny.

If that succesfull man wanted someone of his class, he should not go for anything less.

But because men thnik it is more important to have a sex than to be in good enough relationship for them, they want just that pretty one.

Easy, because sexual encounters are much more risky for women than for men. Women risk pregnancy, which is an enormous life changing commitment, whereas men risk wasting an hour on a subpar encounter. As a result, women are inclined to feel more guarded, they withhold from sex more than men, and as a result, they become the limiting factors in sexual pairing. Women need to have high standards. Men should too, but it's not necessary for them to successfully reproduce strong offspring.

Also consider that women have an in-group bias, they see themselves as part of a female collective, whereas men have no such in-group bias, and even have an out-group bias. I've heard of women talking negatively about promiscuous women for diminishing the sex-withholding power of the group. There's a reason women are more prone to slut-shaming women than men, women are able to understand that if they all set high standards, it grants them all significant power. Men don't really think like that.

Maybe it's not that most women consciously think about banding together as women to collectively set high standards to increase their bargaining power as if part of a union, but it doesn't have to be conscious to work. Most human behavior isn't all that conscious anyway, over time these things just get set into culture, and even into our biology. This is why all that stuff I talked about in the first paragraph still matters, even though today things ae very different. In the 21st century, men do actually carry significant risk from pregnancy, because society will force him to carry that risk. But that's new, that wasn't the environment we've lived in for any more than a sliver of human history, so our biological inclinations are still guiding us as if men don't need to have standards, other than how fertile his sexual partner is, which we gage entirely by appearance.

Well it all started because women give birth to a child and when we are newborns we are totally useless and need to be taken care of for years. It is called parental investment , our species out of all the mammals has the most parental investment. In other species where parental investment is close to non existent the males are the "beautiful sex" because the only thing the female animal searches is "good genes" so only looks matter because parental duties can be handled solely by the female.

Now if you are asking why it is soo different in our society where men are not pretty and women are much prettier than men there are plenty more reasons of course. Lets see if we can brainstorm some hahaha :

Women focus more on "beautifying themselves" and that creates a commercial loop because many more beautifying products will be created and marketed towards women because women buy them.
Men compete sexually in other things too so they don't focus too much on beauty because it isn't as good as an investment to heavily focus on as other things . For women competition with other women relies on beauty more so their investment is more justified.
The different factors that are in play when flirting and finding a mate are not shown in dating apps where all you see is primarily looks and a bit of status (car,watch,house etc). So when looking only dating apps you are like WTF why are men unattractive.
The heavy use of beautifying products will make people believe they are themselves when they use those products so their own self reflection gets skewed.

One mistake you made is that for women it is just their beauty. That applies to hookups it doesn't apply as much for successful LTR or successful marriage.

Disclaimer , the "blame" for these behaviors is on both sexes.

And OP don't forget that what you stated is their "privilege" but our "privilege" is that we can create our worth and we have more time to do it. And their privilege on looks comes with a "time limit" because if a woman wants a child it is safe for her and the child before 35, after that many complications arise. Both sexes have their problems and their advantages.

I just always remind myself that if I take one of these women seriously that I will still be paying for her long after her beauty fades. You start to think more clearly after accepting that.

Yes this is terrible - both men and women who judge a person's worth solely based on physical appearance are shallow.
