This is a terribly written article As somebody who hasn't seen this movie, I am throughly confused. All I got out of it is that Portman slapped two guys in a movie, and this is sexist against women because it portrays them as weak. I don't understand the context that it occurred in the movie, and the author should have set it up better for the reader.

So the slap is wrong because it is too weak and therefore reinforces THE PATRIARCHY, not because unprovoked violence is morally indefensible?

What does the author think should happen? Should there be maimed males to reinforce the proper place of our female masters?

This article was unreasonably uptight, like I couldn't read it hardly because it's trying way too hard to sound smart.

I watched a little bit of the new Thor movie. When Thor reunites with Natalie Portman's character, she slaps him twice across the face and he just kind of stands there unphased.

First thing I thing I thought was 'How can she slap???!' Then I thought about it for a minute and it occurs to me, Thor is a demi god. A slap to him doesn't hurt him, unless he was getting hit by a frost giant or something.

Me, I hate getting slapped. I'm not a super hero and it hurts more than movies let on.

I actually seriously dislike the double standard. I have no intention of slapping a girl yet my girlfriend has no problem slapping me if she thinks I deserve it. Screw that. No one deserves physical violence yet movies like this (thanks Disney) tell kids that it's completely acceptable.
