How stupid can you be, do people not understand that there are high standards for a reason. especially now that women are allowed in combat roles the only thing lowering standards does is make it easier on them, that's how people end up undertrained and soldiers lose their lives

Affirmative action advocates usually have trouble seeing how it perpetuates the cycle of discrimination.

This is more true than elsewhere when entry requirements to any career are lowered to target a group, who then often do not perform as well and become the evidence for discrimination.

So in short, if you want more women in a career you need to motivate them to kick down the door, laying out a carpet will just make it worse.

I went to Military College. In our class, there were around 120 starting out. About 10 of those were female. Only about 30 finished 18 months later and of those, there were five females. There were definately two types of females there. Happy to share any stories if anyone wants.

I ask what happens when everyone at west point is a woman? Do we have no one to lead our troops into battle?

Women can't have their cake and eat it. They can't demand to be in the military and then refuse to fight. There should be a draft of all women in the United States to be sent off to war. See how they like it. I bet they'd be screaming equality then.

German military is worse. Women get easier tasks than their male comrades - just for the sake of quotas. Lets not talk about what could happen in combat situations. But well: people will never accept that women have not as much strenght as men (in average of coursee. even the world records in sport differ-> male and female bodys differ)

I agree. The major reason more women aren't signing up for the military (second to physical shortcomings) is the out-dated notion pushed by men and women that women's lives matter.

There are so many alternative ways for women to get an education that don't involve potentially dying in a war that few women are desperate enough to go the military route. It will take a long time as there is a great deal of social momentum behind this but if we start now telling girls that they exist mainly to serve by putting themselves at risk to protect others, that their lives aren't particularly valuable, and then denying them safer routes to graduation and success we can get this closer to parity.

In the name of equality we should work on making girls feel as disposable as we've always made boys feel. Perhaps then we can finally achieve equality in the most dangerous lines of work. Frankly I won't consider equality to have been achieved until half the soldiers killed in wars are women. That may even take some sort of coercion, like a female only draft, to achieve. But isn't equality more important than freedom?
