The article speaks of these attitudes being a remnant of our far ancestors. For some time the evolution of our species has transcended the biological, first through the simple tools we used and subsequently through he mechanisms of mathematics, science and culture that we discovered/created. They are inevitably intertwined in our evolution as a species. We can choose the cultural rules that we follow, and although there will be resistance from our ancient underlying biology initially, it will become increasingly easy to follow the new norms. Hopefully the ones we choose will be the right ones. Not saying that there is an inherent good in being allowed to ogle young women, but there is certainly one in gender equality.
