This just makes no sense...violence against women isn't 'epidemic', violence against people is epidemic. I also believe that any real look into the genders of victims will show that far and away men are the victims of the majority of violence.

It's bad reporting to give statistics only on female victims of violence. Even if men experience significantly lower rates of violence (which I would never let a biased article lead me to conclude) it doesn't provide for intellectual discussion when you make one side of the argument readily available and make no effort show the other. Sure I could look up statistics for both genders, but then why did I click on this article? There is no evidence of an epidemic and this is just sensationalist reporting.

Furthermore, in the last decade there's been an increase in violence against women by their partners? Pretty sure there's also been an increase in women who have female partners as well. Why isn't this addressed?

TL;DR: "If we ignore certain parts of the sample, we get results that fit the title".

This is just more of the same. They look at only one type of violence in one scenario and ignore the part that men are 80% of homicide victims.

Saying "women when murdered are more likely to be killed by their partners" is an emotional draw. It says nothing about who is more at risk for murder or to what degree.

Of men that are murdered, 7-8% are murder by a partner, but men are murdered at 4 times the rate so that would mean for every 100 male murders there are 7-8 murdered by a partner, and with women at 1/4 the number of murders and let's round it to 40% of those were by a partner we have...10

So for every 10 women murdered by their partner, 7-8 men were killed by theirs(putting women at 55% of people murdered by their partner); doesn't seem so one sided now, does it, and that's before the other 75 male murders to 15 female murders are taken into account.

This article is just more of the same statistical bullshit.

The WHO report it references is similarly labelled. I assume they compile statistics about Men too, but it's not an issue worth writing a length article about?

The trick of this statistic is using percentages instead of total numbers to conceal how many more men are being murdered per year than women. A larger percentage of women being murdered by an intimate partner suggests that fewer women are dying compared to the massive body count of men being murdered.

So the percentage growing actually means women are becoming safer, so this is a case of lies, damned lies, and statistics. They're manipulating the data to sound an alarm for women because men are dying in droves outside the home.

It seems to me that violence in general is a pandemic and it has never not been so.

On the other hand , if we didn't put our attention exclusively on saving women from violence , how could we possibly stop all of that violence ?
