And I bet she still came out believing she was in the right. Infuriating.

One in three women are pedophiles. No citation needed because, you know, reasons.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points14 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Read somewhere that it's now 1 in 2.

[–]Kiesa5 7 points8 points9 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I read once that it's actually 29/30.

[–]KDulius 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I just heard from my lunch time cup of coffee that it's now 2 in 1

Soon to be 11 out of every 10 women are raped...

I had a discussion with someone about this based on Australian, According to feminist 1 in 5 women are raped. Bureau of statistics says 97.7 in 100,000 people are sexual harassed. And sadly it's near on 6 rapes per 100,000 people it's quite high for a OECD country.

According to feminists in Australia, if 1 in 5 women are raped that mean there is roughly 2,300,000 rapes over her life time specifically for women. That equates to 32,500 rapes a year 100 every day. That's in Australia.

The real yearly number is 1,500 a year not based on gender, and that is reported numbers. So it may be higher but not near the numbers they suggest.

Yet the number of actual raped is going to be a hell of a lot smaller than that. Now I worked that out half a sleep based on the population being 50/50 on 26,000,000 which is something like our pop and the average age of a women being 80.

That's fucking ridiculous feminist logic right there, that number is inconceivable. And she's claiming 1 in 3... You don't even need to study that. If my simple math is right you could simply logically explain it with child math.

Edit Yeah my math is off derp derp I forgot to divide by the age in there it's still 100 rapes every day

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Logic is misogynistic. So are facts. Math is the MOST misogynistic of all since most of it was written down by male mathematicians. I can tell from your comment that you're obviously a serial rapist since you don't just believe the 1 in 3 statistic at face value. Pig.

There was a thread in /r/Australia claiming 1/4 women are sexually harassed. Bullshit.

[–]Tefai 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Harassed is a bit different and what people define as harassment, I wouldn't argue a harassment because that is a very fluid word and open to someone's interpretation. I'd say a lot of males are sexual harassed to, but who would want to do a study on that? Doesn't exactly bode well with the media.

Didn't Newt say feelings were as important as facts?

[–]paracog 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Otherwise intelligent women seem to be blind to the fact that evidence free accusations make them unfit to hold power in a society of laws.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points12 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

We all know that actual facts and figures are meaningless to these folks. I mean they are still clinging to the 70 cents for every dollar nonsense even though it's been completely disproven about a hundred different ways.

Stop Womansplaning.

[–]JakeDC 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

"Honey?" I bet she would have shit her panties if a man in the comments called her "honey."

[–]The__Tren__Train 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

it's ok when they do it..

that's the overarching theme of feminism, liberalism, and well....just women in general nowadays

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

When statistics are changing that much, it's the statistics, not large amounts of (false) rape, that are the problem.

[–]DarkKnight77 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It truly, truly pains me to know that people on this planet actually think like this. If this type of thinking becomes the norm, we are in trouble (more so than we are now)

I think it used to be 1 in 4 and included things like unwanted gropes. They keep moving the goal posts.

Skillful deconstruction, bro. It's hard not to become enraged and distracted when dealing with ... sigh ... just about anyone these days.

[–]Mythandros 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminists are complete retards. Listening to ANYTHING a feminist says causes irreversible brain cell loss. Save your brain, burn a feminist!

(For those of you without a sense of humor.. The "burn a feminist" part was a joke.)

And look how much it gets upvoted. God I hate Reddit, a far left cesspool.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

? The original comment has more upvotes though.

This is a bad example of what you're saying.

[–]Tefai 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If you join a circle here Reddit with like minded people it's easy to get up votes.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Far left? I see few calls for CEO pay to be lowered to something more reasonable. SJWs are not far left -- if they were, they would not be allowed such a loud voice.

[–]fuckyoubanhappymods -2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I see reddit being called both a far right and far left cesspool lol

[–]Greg_W_Allan 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

In the US if prison rape is included there are about three times as many rapes involving male victims as there are female.

Were your interlocutor correct about the rate for women being one in three we have already achieved one in one for males.

[–]shmirvine 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

As much as I agree that the person should cite their claims because they sound like bullshit, they originally said 1 in 3 are violated sexually. Being violated sexually is much much broader than rape.

OP of this post is pandering to this audience. Quit the fucking bullshit yourself too, OP.

[–]JakeDC 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Counter point:

Much of the current debate around rape is mired in equivocation on terms like "rape," "sexual assault," "sexual violation," etc. For example, the "1 in 5" studies define "sexual assault" quite broadly, to include things that certainly qualify as "rape"to things that certainly do not. This is a deliberate approach because it allows so-called "victims advocates" to equivocate on terms and, thereby, more argue that there is a rape epidemic, that rape is common, that many men are rapists, etc. So "pandering" is not the right word. It is really misrepresentation, either explicitly or implicitly. Asking for a source is a start to figuring out what the "1 in 3" claim means and where it comes from. Sadly, this is crucial.

To hopefulluly ward off negative responses - Yes, of course one rape is too many! I am not saying that there is some "acceptable" prevalence of rape that is greater than zero. But a proper understanding of the problem - including its scope - is important. It impacts what steps are should be taken to address it, how extreme those steps can/should be, the broader narratives that are spun as a result of the perceived status quo, etc. Dishonesty does not help solve the problem - it makes us less informed and leads to other bad consequences.

Murder is a problem. But we don't have a murder epidemic. Efforts to reduce murder that are premised on the idea of a murder epidemic are not likely to solve reduce murder rates and are likely to have bad effects.

[–]crimsonkodiak 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

This is a deliberate approach because it allows so-called "victims advocates" to equivocate on terms and, thereby, more argue that there is a rape epidemic, that rape is common, that many men are rapists, etc.

This is an important point. People don't just throw out terms like sexually assaulted and "violated sexually" in the context of a discussion about a rapist without the expectation that people won't conflate being "violated sexually" with being raped.

I mean, yeah, the 1 in 3 stat is probably right for sexual assault (it seems low to me, if anything), but there's a world of difference between being raped and having someone squeeze your butt. I mean, I'm a guy and I've had women grab just about every part of my body at one point or another.

[–]JakeDC 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't know of any reputatable study, even with a ridiculously broad definition of "sexual assault," that would support a 1 in 3 figure. I doubt there is any way to get to that number without "cooking the books"

[–]crimsonkodiak 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Really?

We must have very different life experiences. Even if you don't count the stupid adolescent crap guys do to each other (like the dreaded sack tap), I don't feel like women just touching or grabbing you in a sexual way is that uncommon. I've been standing next to my girlfriend at a festival and had random women come up behind and touch/grab me. Go to more country concerts (or don't, if that kind of thing makes you uncomfortable).

I feel like the opposite is true as well. I can't tell you how many times I've been in a bar and seen some guy grab a woman's breasts or ass without invitation.

[–]shmirvine -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're not making a counter point to what I said. I never said that the person doesn't need a source. I'm saying that the title here says rape when OP could've and should've originally quoted what the individual said.

You're arguing a point that I didn't make, I'm pointing out the dishonesty that OP her did when he's trying point out dishonesty in someone else.

[–]JakeDC 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes. But she also used the term "sexually assaulted," and her comment could be read as suggesting that that term means the same thing as "sexually violated." If they don't mean the same thing, then the stat she provided is irrelevant to her initial point. Etc. She isn't pandering, she is being dishonest.

Against that background, I actually don't think OP is being dishonest, because it is more than fair to assume that she is using terms loosely/interchangeably and that she is trying to make a dishonest point about rape.

[–]ContrarianDouche -1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also felt that the name-calling at the end was unnecessary. Attack the arguments not the person
