I live in America, born in Belgium, was raised in Denmark, with a couple of years in mother's native Pakistan which can be ignored for purposes of this note. I'm going to go through what I see are the generally cited reasons for there to be a need for an MRM and propose alternate explanations for all of them. Do realise that this is not to derail the MRA movement or to attack members present, rather it is to, perhaps identify our enemy appropriately. As my old mathematics instructor said, the first step to solving a problem is to understand it. In that vein, I present r/mensrights with how I understand discrimination in the west:
Family courts favouritism: I don't have children, but if I did with the Queen of Denmark (my country), the child would be better off, by any measure, being raised as a member of the royal family than myself. This isn't because of her gender or mine, nor any shortcomings of either, but because of the privileges a prince/princess gets vs a commoner. Likewise, when Donald Trump had sex, resulting in his daughter, Tiffany, being born out of wedlock, I know that no family court denied him any paternal rights -- my cousin roomed with Ivanka Trump at Georgetown their freshman year and she spent Thanksgiving in Trump tower with Donald, Melania, and the rest of the Trump family one year.
More men are homeless than women: If you're richer, you aren't likely to be homeless. A different cousin of mine worked at Google for a long time. He's done well, he isn't likely to ever be homeless in his life. Even the abject failure that is his sister will never be homeless, because he (and his brother, who is also doing well financially) will support her. Likewise, the family is structured such that she would support them were they to get into trouble.
Sentencing discrepancy: Sentences are given, most often, when the legal argument of the defence is weak. OJ (a male) was acquitted of murder and there are countless other examples of the rich getting away with other crimes. The financial crisis of 2008 was caused by males, almost exclusively. How many of these are in prison? 1, Bernie Madoff, for securities fraud. No others have been convicted, and some of the biggest fraudsters were given huge bonuses as a result of the GFC.
Educational discrepancies are greater in every country between social classes than within them based on gender. The reference book in the sidebar is my source for this statement, quoting "it's worse among students who are poor".
I could go on, but I must get back to work. I look forward to your responses.
