Men, like all students, benefit from the implicit lesson that they are resilient and the explicit lessons gleaned from ostensibly hostile professors, the hostility of whom is more often than not overblown. So don’t hate Walters, men of Northeastern. And do consider taking her class. It is likely to forcefully convey a perspective very different from your own.

This article is, imo, significantly worse than the first. But I'm going to upvote it for visibility.

The previous piece was extremely refreshing in its candor. The professor merely stated in plain words what most feminists think, or rather feel, since they don't really do much thinking. If all feminists were as honest as Walters we wouldn't be in this mess.

It is far worse to hide one's hatred behind a veil of academic jargon, or even worse still, to pretend as though feminism (ie the hatred of men) somehow helps men. That's just insulting.

So let's see what we have here:

Alright. So I'm guessing we shouldn't mistake it for the sentiments of the woman who actually founded the discipline that Ms. Waters now teaches -- Sally Miller Gearhart (it was originally called "Women's Studies"). Gearhart not only thought it was okay to hate men but argued (sincerely) that men should be reduced to ten percent of the population. And I'm guessing we also shouldn't mistake it for the sentiments of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who founded the feminist movement in the US and wrote that women were "infinitely superior" to men. Nor should we mistake it with the sentiments of Gloria Steinem ("women need men like a fish needs a bicycle") or Germaine Greer, who argued that men are a product of a "defective" gene.

It's funny, because all these mainstream feminists sound an awful lot like raging man hating psychos. Perhaps the fringe feminists are the ones who don't hate men? Just a thought.

Oh, well that's a relief. If she only hates white American men that's perfectly acceptable. Because, you know, intersectionality.

It doesn't matter if they limit their rhetorical attacks to "white" men, not least because "men of color" often suffer even worse under their policies. Just look at the black community.

Feminists spend more time attacking white men because it's more socially acceptable. If they had been born a hundred years ago they would have spent more time attacking black men -- which is exactly what feminists at the time did. The KKK had a huge women's auxiliary, and Ida B. Wells noted at the time that feminists played a major role in lynching culture because they demonized black men (whom they argued should not have received the vote before white women).

Well, give the boy a cookie and a pat on the head. Apparently even male feminists have a speck of dignity lurking somewhere in their subconscious.

I especially like this paragraph. He spends the previous two admonishing the author for engaging in group blame rather than focussing on individuals, then proceeds to do the exact same thing. ARE men responsible for most violence? No. Of course not. Men are just held responsible for most violence. Women who abuse their children, women who use proxy violence, women who use emotional violence, women who sexually select for violent men -- they too are responsible. You cannot examine the behavior of one sex in isolation: that's just asinine.

Here, we see the faintest glimmer of recognition by the male feminist:

Bravo. A moment of clarity. Women: time to man up and take responsibility for your actions. Now if this guy had any balls he would have continued: men are also responsible for trying to rectify toxic femininity. For example, men need to stop playing white knight; they need to stop throwing other men under the bus; they need to stand up for their rights as human beings; and above all they need to start harshly condemning feminism/misandry.

Indeed, in the realm of fatherhood, where too much abdication of responsibility is a catastrophic societal problem, it would be deeply counterproductive.

Oooohhhh so close. And here we're right back to holding men responsible for a situation they didn't create. Feminists -- and no other group -- created the crisis of fatherlessness. They literally set out to "destroy the patriarchal family" and have consistently opposed shared parenting legislation, alimony reform etc.

That effort should not involve silencing people like Walters. Her tenured position shouldn’t be threatened; no one should file a Title IX complaint or suspend her from teaching or advising men out of concern for their safety and psychological well-being.

You know what? Ordinarily I'd agree. But if we're going to fire men for stating controversial opinions, then we're going to have to fire women for engaging in outright hate speech. I somehow doubt this mangina would be arguing the same if she had said "I hate kikes" or if a male prof said "I hate women". I don't know why "equal treatment" is such a hard concept for Feminists/SJW's to understand. But they're gonna learn. Oh yeah they're gonna learn.

In point of fact, every man at the university should be filing a Title IX complaint as we speak. Men have tried to take the high road for over a century but feminists just keep getting more and more bold in their hatred. It's equality time, bitches.

The author is no friend of men (duh, this is The Atlantic). This is just damage control, like so many articles in MSM in recent years.

The overwhelming majority of feminists want equality, not male abdication of power and responsibility. In the name of feminism, Walters advocates for a future that few women want within a framework that mistakenly treats their project as zero sum.

Even this person who argues, “We have every right to hate [men],” will likely keep teaching them without much controversy, barring antagonistic classroom behavior. And that’s as it should be. Men, like all students, benefit from the implicit lesson that they are resilient and the explicit lessons gleaned from ostensibly hostile professors, the hostility of whom is more often than not overblown. If you’re offended by something that Walters says, you could politely object or ignore it. And I suspect her lectures are fun—that she’s forthright, able to express provocative ideas in a way that’s refreshingly free of euphemism or jargon, and that her most bigoted ideological commitments don’t affect how she treats her students. So long as she’s never put in charge of deciding, say, how much money should be allocated to fight prison rape or prostate cancer, folks should keep calm, carry on, and be savvy enough to glean wisdom from a wrongheaded eccentric.
