The first sentence is just a lie.

"Decades after Canada introduced pay equity laws, women continue to earn less than men, regardless of sector, job title, or number of hours they work."

It should read: Decades after Canada introduced pay equity laws, women continue to earn less than men, BECAUSE of sector, job choices, and number of hours they work.

The pay gap simply means that women aren't pulling their fucking weight in society. They choose easy, comfortable, safe jobs and then expect to be paid the same as the men doing hard, unpleasant, dangerous jobs.

I'm fucking sick of it.

The pay gap simply means that women aren't pulling their fucking weight in society.

I don't know that what you're saying is far, unless you also want to argue that the guy working a 40 hour week isn't pulling his weight compared to his colleague who works 60 hours a week. People prioritize their time differently, and there's nothing wrong with that as such. But I agree with you that it has been repeatedly and plainly shown that the gender pay gap is a function of choice, not discrimination, and as such, women who want more money should make different professional choices, or failing that, shut the hell up.

If they're both making the same money (which is what feminists are demanding), then yes, the 40 hour a week guy isn't pulling his weight.

I find it absolutely fascinating the way feminists have adapted to the sheer amount of criticism they've received over this issue and have gone from calling it the wage gap to the pay gap.

For those who don't know that might be new to all of this, back in the days of gamergate, this was a major issue that feminists kept pushing as well. Except, they were constantly calling it the wage gap because everybody consistently mocked them for the next two years ( Perhaps longer, I only became aware of them fairly recently in comparison to MRAs ) they've now switched to the 'pay gap' the reason being is because a frequent criticism of them was that their 'wage gap' doesn't exist since it's more to do with earnings and the hourly wage paid to women is completely fair.

So now they've just gone and changed the name to something far more plausible which actually matches the problem they're talking about. It's just funny to me how feminists just don't have a fucking clue about anything they're talking about even by most peoples' standards.

There is indeed a 'pay gap' between men and women, but as usual, there are plenty of legitimate reasons for it like hours worked, experience, positions and negotiating skills and pretty much none of them are discrimination. If they looked especially hard. They might be able to find some sexist small business owner somewhere who's fucking over their female employees for no reason, but that's pretty much it.

The pay gap and wage gap is another classic example of rich feminists from their bubble communities inventing issues to protest about because they don't have anything productive to do with their lives. Which ironically will be another reason why the pay gap exists in the first place.

next onto 'earnings gap'

[–]Headsup1958 11 points12 points13 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

If I were a regular reader of Maclean's (which I'm not) I would not only refuse to buy that issue, but I would cancel my subscription. Discrimination is discrimination no matter how you look at it.

[–]regularguy98b 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Even better would be to actually buy the female issue and then stare at the disgusted look on the female cashier’s face as you’re calmly paying for it

[–]uspsman1 point 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Then demand the cashier give back $2 for every hour she works, because y'know she is getting paid less per hour than her counterpart cashier men. But I'm sure she is already doing that since she's being paid less right.

Pay equity is having its moment as the next beat in the cadence of the #MeToo movement

It really isn't.

Our hope is that these dual covers help ignite the kind of urgent conversation in Canada that is already happening elsewhere around the world.

The conversation only leads to the truth, and that is that the income gap is caused by women's lifestyle choices and motherhood. So I hope it does that too.

How about women work more dangerous jobs, work longer hours and take less vacation time?

[–]BanSpeech 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

And less sick time. And stay at jobs for longer periods of time to build seniority and experience.

[–]KOMRADE_DIMITRI 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Let's be honest..

This is probably just preaching to the choir here

[–]doklaan 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

These stories drive me nuts. My wife is a stay at home mom. So I am expected to pay more than a woman even though I am already supporting one woman?

[–]Aivias 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

IF she does dishes, sweeps and puts the bins out then shes fulfilling her obligations to you you sick abuser. Youre lucky to have access to glorious vagina, what else should she do for you? /s

[–]doklaan 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Who said I have access to her vagina?

Just kidding. My wife’s awesome.

[–]regularguy98b 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Ok, so Maclean’s has decided that men should pay more for the same content. Fine. The real question is what will the men do?

Unfortunately in modern society men have become so cucked and frightened by political correctness that they will usually do exactly what the PC code desires. Sure, they may be privately very angry about the fact that radical feminism is being thrown right in their face and they might even come home and rant on the Internet about it but will they have the balls to actually buy the female cover especially when they try to pay for it at the checkout and the female cashier is staring back at them? The truth of the matter is, it doesn’t matter what we think privately, if we aren’t actually willing to speak up about this in real life, it will make little difference and feminism will just keep creeping forward.

[–]Wisemanner 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Simply don't buy this issue.

[–]DaMicrophoneExplodes5 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Don't buy any issue

Glad to know that a male janitor would have to pay more than a female medical doctor...

[–]uspsman0 points 8 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

What a fucking joke. I lol how it's being broadcasted from the breakfast club news.

No one in economics takes this shit seriously. Deliberate propaganda to put princesses on a pedestal and demonize men. And the liberal cucks with no testosterone that follow.
