Good to hear. I'm assuming you're american, I'm from Norway and we don't have that circumcision "culture" so it's always been weird to me, but I can imagine it's something that's difficult to even begin to question

You are awesome! The best about not circumcising is, your boy can always change his mind himself later when he's grown up, so even if you were wrong (you're not) it would be the right decision.

OP, Good for you and your son. When I went through pregnancy classes with my wife (18 years ago) we were the only couple choosing not to have our son mutilated. I said “No one is cutting my son.”. The nurses teaching the class applauded our choice. Anyone thinking of allowing this should watch a video of the procedure being done. It’s barbaric. The baby suffers terribly. Both of my sons have everything they were born with (13 and 16). They’ve never had UTIs or any other health issues. Why is this prevalent in the U.S,? Money. It’s all about the money.

ive met a few men who were cut as adults for various reasons. Most complained that orgasms were far less sensitive then before and not enjoying sex as much in general. They lose sensitivity.

My husband and I just had the circumcision discussion, now that we’re trying for a baby. My husband, unfortunately, was circumcised against his will at the age of 8 after being adopted from Russia by an American couple.

After the trauma he endured, we would never even consider taking that choice away from a baby boy. Once our future son is old enough to understand circumcision and make a well-reasoned decision on the matter, we will happily provide the procedure if that is his decision.

But who the hell are we to take away part of the body a baby is born with without his input?

I'm not sure why we still do this at all here. Most of the world (where it was ever practiced at all) has abandoned non religious circumcision. I'm not circumcised...in my experience the advantages of being circumcised as well as the disadvantages of not being are...very very exaggerated? Best wishes on the arrival of your new son...

As a parent of an uncircumcized child, when it comes to the proper time, make sure to teach proper hygiene and to clean under the foreskin daily. Also realize that infants foreskin is still attached to the head. It can take a while to naturally separate. If these things are new to you at all I suggest reading up on it a bit.

Congratulations! At this point, do not retract to clean. The foreskin is fused to the head of the penis and will naturally retract over time (it may take until puberty). Just wipe like a finger. It's that simple. Check out yourwholebaby.org for information.

Watch out if a doctor wants to examine him. I've heard that they just aren't trained to deal with foreskins in America and may try to forcibly retract it.
