I'm all for equal pay. But when I have to do the duties that someone else cannot physically perform, why do I not get compensated for?

Equal pay for equal work. If you can’t do it all then take reduced pay. If I have to do you work too then pay me for it.

If they cannot perform the tasks the job requires...they shouldn't have the job.

For you though, just don't, let them do their own work, i would be surprised if they cared that the girls did less and you did more.

I worked in the oilfield with exactly one female. She was a hard worker but 110 pounds soaking wet. She just couldn't do certain aspects of the job, but she made sure to try and make up for it by doing other shit we hated doing.

It was a decent trade, really

I think this is indeed the appropriate place for this and that you need to take action. Make enquiries through your union first, if you have one. Other may have better advice.

You won't get anywhere with this argument because if the laws on manual work are the same as here in the uk, you are expected to seek help irrelevant of gender if you do not have the physical capacity to shift it

The solution here is to request help at the same frequency as any of your colleagues do for undertaking the same task

That way you can fire back sexism of you are told "your a man" and claim indirect sex discrimination if you are expected to move things that others doing your job are not

No such thing as equal pay ever. Even if you have the samw titles, it's really hard to work at the same pace to truly be "equal". Also, sometimes there are intangible problem solving or critical thinking situations that won't be compensated either until you get promoted. But every single person is different and can bring different things to the table that may tip the balance. It's bullshit but even worse when someone can't keep up at all.

If you really feel strongly about it then you could simply not help the women and put your foot down but especially if you explain your reasoning this is definitely going to cause friction between your co-workers. You could well end up having some people privately agree with you but you're entering some pretty risky territory.

For what it's worth, I'm in complete agreement, if they can't do the job they should have been fired or assigned somewhere else. They shouldn't be getting salaries they don't deserve because you're doing the work they can't do for them, this is a huge problem with affirmative action.

In the end the people who are qualified and can do the work end up taking up the slack for people who can't. If this has been going on for months or even years I would not blame you at all for getting pissed off about it.

In the army for instance it's clearly a huge problem because you see situations when the women start struggling the men end up having to carry the damn backpack for her on top of the other equipment they have to carry themselves, it's completely unfair.

Like when i trying out for the military the pt requirements for women were massively lower than the ones for men which makes sense since men have an easily time gaining and maintaining muscle mass compared to women.

....but someone who can't walk from an IED explosion doesn't magically change from being 300 pounds in full combat gear to 210 pounds because a women was in their unit, so when are going to stop denying reality in favor of equality?

That's what Unions do: same pay for everyone despite efficiency, effort, etc. You must carry the inept/un fit for the job. Fuck unions.

I work in a similar industry. I refuse to do anyone’s job man or woman if they are too weak/small. Unless it’s life or death obviously.

Switch it around on them. Say, "I was just about to make myself a sandwich really quick, but I'll stop and pick that up for you if you dont mind helping me out with my sammy."

In the past, I have experienced this kind of thing as well. In my case, the women who needed the extra help were 100% respectful about it, so nobody felt any reason to make an issue out of it, but it has caused me to think about the topic.

I'm sorry dude but if I were you I would draw a line in the sand and simply stop helping other people with jobs they can't do. And I am aware that it's not the right thing morally but from a job and money making standpoint that is your best move for the simple fact that If they can't do certain aspects of a job then they shouldn't have that job.

there's your problem. you work under a set of rules that prohibit people from being compensated based on merit.
