Although this is a good post, its title does not say enough about its subject. This forces people to click and read before they can decide whether they are interested. It also makes searching impossible.

If everyone did this, the subreddit would become unusable.

So please don't do it in future. Take the time to describe your link, and save the time of hundreds of other people.

When making a title, it's best to assume the reader doesn't know what you're talking about - but don't go overboard with every detail. Then check if there are any words you can cut out without losing any important information.

Why is it OK for moms to abandon their kids, but not dads?

Why is it OK for mom to decide that she doesn't want to be mom anymore, but it is not okay for dad to make that same decision?
Why is it OK for mom to be able to make the choice that motherhood is not for her, but dad is not able to make the choice that fatherhood is not for him?

Until Dads have the same rights and choices regarding parenthood as Moms (among other things), I will continue to call bullshit on feminism.

There are 2.4 million moms who don’t have custody of their kids (versus 8.6 million single moms) and there are 2.6 million single dads. There’s no way to know from those numbers how many women willingly gave up their kids, how many single dads are widows or single dads by choice, etc.

But every once and a while, we’re reminded that some moms abandon their kids. Few of us, rightly or wrongly, raise an eyebrow when we hear of a dad giving up custodial rights. But, a mom? That goes against everything we believe — or choose to believe — about mothers. Still, it happens, and there are many ways to look at it.

AS IF ALL DADS WANT THAT. You think people's dads wants to slave away at a job? You think he doesn't want to be home doing things with his kids, doing a variety of activities, and mainly being closer to their kids?

And most of all, you think dads want their kids to be with their moms instead of, say, a joint custody?

That is essentially the problem: all boo hoo moms, pretending that dads got what they want. Dads want to be with their kids. Moms want some alone time.

The solution is then blatantly simple. Make dads caretakers, send moms to work. Mom gets time to work on her stuff, dads get time to be with kids.

Goddamn.

Wow, looking at the title, since "abandon" is between quotes I expected it to be something about mothers begin overprotective. Nope, it's straight up about mothers leaving their children alone with the father "because they want to feel free". WTF?

Not only the men have not reproductive rights but nobody say that women make the majority of child abusers in the world.That not counting the goddesses of death for millions of unborn children.
