I don't understand this obsession with trying to make boys play with certain toys or be interested in certain things in the first place. There's so much unnecessary overcomplicating the matter. Forget about what's "average for boys" or what's "gender neutral" and just let him pick out whatever toys or hobbies he's interested in

My boys spend hours customizing the figures in their video games. Which I suppose are their versions of dolls.

Let the kids play with what they want to play with. Don't make them do it, don't stop them from doing it. Argument over.

How many boys have played with G.I.Joe versus girls with Ken and Barbie.

They're all "dolls" but are used in different styles of play.

Joe is a Soldier that uses critical thinking and strategy to defeat "The Enemy" and save the world.

Barbie goes on dates with Ken, shops and spends time driving around in fancy vehicles, or at her mansion entertaining her girlfriends.

I agree. I would have loved to have been able to play with dolls openly as a boy, but I wouldn't force another boy to play with them.

Toys manufacturer tryied very hard to develop gender neutral toys they could sell to boys and girls. Didn't work. And the where motivated by the most powerful force of our society, PROFIT.
