This is really great for Red Pillers and those who left. They taught men to be terrible in relationships and then they saw what they lost. But not MOST people are afflicted by these things. Women aren't always well-socialized, either are a lot of men, but I do think there is more to it than what he states. A lot of relationships are lost to just the time it takes to work and live. People are exhausted and not everyone is an extrovert.

As someone who is terrible at marital relationship, the article points out my failure modes accurately. At least now I know why I’m so bad at it

I have some criticisms of this. Not even the advice, necessarily. But if you read the bottom you get to a link that sends you to a 'click funnel'. No idea what that is. I am just skeptical in general of medium posts, because this is whatever any bozo wanted to write, and it's persuasive. I agree loneliness is endemic and that people are kind of selfishly looking to fill their own bucket as opposed to listening and being there for others. Blah blah blah. But this is kind of fear-driven and doom and gloom, I think. I think this is to sell the author and his books and his courses more than it's actually aiming to help people.

What I'm most irritated with is this constant refrain that laziness is the root evil. Maybe people are perfectly great at having good, close relationships and those friendships have fallen apart because people work more hours than they should. They have limited free time and even more limited money to do social activities. Maybe the problem is that we've monetized all the third spaces. Maybe staying inside for two years impacted how close people are. I know it really fucked with my social life. Maybe we've transplanted digital intimacy with physical and emotional intimacy. Maybe the problem is bigger and more complicated than your personal drive for interpersonal connection and it's actually tied into a dying economy, political upheaval, no one being able to afford shit, and a global pandemic. Maybe it's complicated and not as simple as you being too lazy to call someone and tell them you love them.

Fair enough. And Medium articles are basically someone’s opinion. For what it’s worth, by the author’s metric i have completely failed at relationships. So I’m certainly not claiming to follow it. I was curious about other mindsets that might have insight into my social failures.
