Many of these are good and useful. Some of these are frankly stupid or classist and thus a major turnoff for me (as someone already pointed out, hard-working people in MANY industries are out past midnight, and that includes adults with families and careers who make respectable amounts of money.) Fuck being a doctor or a nurse pulling overnight ICU shifts, right?

Also please take note that many of these are "do other attractive women exist" which no shit they do - I do not think hyperfocusing on other women simply existing in the world as threats is going to do anything but make women insane. You don't want a man who isn't cheating because he doesn't have access to women to cheat - you want a man who WILL NOT CHEAT REGARDLESS OF IF HE HAS THE OPPORTUNITY. raise that bar, other women aren't a red flag, HE is the red flag.

Focus on the man's behaviors- that's the person you're in the relationship with, that's the person you can leave if there's a problem, focus on THAT.

It's shitty to list "he has an attractive coworker" as itself a SIGN that someone is cheating. c'mon. line points like that are what people make fun of us for, which is what stops women from learning/saving themselves from a lifetime of misery.

Wow! I think this list is amazing and it highlights the biggest point of all, your gut doesn’t lie. So many of these things are very innocuous by themselves, like a lint roller, or working out, but when you start to see an abnormal pattern of behavior combined with that sinking feeling? That’s not harmless, that’s your gut screaming at you to look a little more critically at the relationship.

This is a big reason we say to vet thoroughly and to KEEP vetting. We’re not saying you have to be paranoid, but try to remove the emotion and look at the relationship from a distance from time to time. Look at what’s changed, what’s stayed the same, how his behavior toward you may have shifted. One of my favorite phrases is “trust, but verify”. You can be hopeful and trusting but still reassure yourself from time to time that things haven’t changed between you. In fact, reflection on mutual goals, plans, etc is healthy and necessary.

All I’m saying is don’t ignore your feelings. You deserve a partner who makes you feel cherished, who meets you where you need them to, and who owns up to their mistakes and becomes a better partner when they happen because nobody is perfect, but we all need to know the difference between imperfect and emotionally impotent.
