I think to some lesser extent men care. But men often look at other factors too: hobbies, personality, education, etc.

If you're a girl in your late 20s and your looks are the only thing you've got going for yourself, have no hobbies, no personality, no interests, and no education, then don't blame men when your looks are the only thing they care about. It's like a "putting all your eggs in one basket" type of thing. The rise of social media (especially IG and "influencer" culture) has unfortunately caused more and more women to believe that their looks are their saving grace and their only hope to success, which couldn't be further from the truth.

This same concept applies to men obviously but it's less common, as far as I've seen, for men to just depend on their looks. Blame that on whatever you want. Society, culture, etc.

Right, because it's definitely the 5'5" insecure guys with average sized dicks "criticizing" you on all those things. This woman is literally imagining non-existent shit, or projecting criticism about her actions(which have nothing to do with her body) from other guys, onto guys who are not even making them. It's like they are just looking for any justification they can to treat those men like shit, or justify their vanity and cruelty.

Also, men aren't expecting you to starve yourself or go under the knife, nor are they forcing you to wear makeup, shave or go nuts on the hair care. Women do those things because they want to and because it generally gives them some kind of power to do so. Men will accept and embrace them either way. And, as far as standards of beauty go, women have it considerably easier, in that the only trait that most men will make a big deal out of is grossly excessive weight(which is perfectly avoidable without "starving yourself").

A lot of men would be going "under the knife" too, if they could make themselves taller or have bigger dicks. Those just aren't very viable options for men the way a boob job might be for women.
