Regardless of the mortality rate per gender (I believe the reason why men die more from it is because they get infected more, this is an important discussion to discuss about prevention but irrelevant to the recovery effort).

Neither gender should receive special treatment. No race should either. That kind of shit shouldn’t determine who gets treated. Everyone should have an equal shot. Unbelievable that the UN wants to bring in gender when it clearly doesn’t matter.

Why exactly should women and girls be at the center of recovery when its the males working the majority of the essential fields? I completely agree that the UN are off the wall with their prioritisation of women and girls, and agree that as a man I've always felt far less cared for by the public systems such as school. However, I think the issue leading to the prioritisation of females is the fact that, with everyone confined to their home, abuse victims (there are lots of them) are spending so much more time with their abusers. This, I assume paired with pregnancy and the importance women play in parenting at home may be logical reasons for pushing this message...

This sub is great but sometimes people can, like radical feminists, fail to see the logic of the counter-argument or attempt to imagine why such perceived injustices are taking place, e.g. this post.
