No, OP it's not just a joke when the entire reason this sub exists is due to how acceptable is is to shit on men. He was playing to the crowd because he knows how low we are thought of. This is just more "boys are stupid throw rocks at them" with the same "it's just a prank bro" attitude, no, this has to stop somewhere. His comments are on par with saying "nice" when boys are sexually assaulted, it just never matters when men are put down

I would agree except:

a) Given the entire statement which the context of the so-called "joke" is in, makes it completely and totally inappropriate.

b) There has yet to be presented a clear and compelling argument made that "any joke, any time, any place" is actually acceptable.

If you've heard nothing that he's said about men\boys I could see how you wouldn't understand what he is saying here. In a vacuum, you're totally right in thinking the worst.

But the reality of Andrew Yang's position on gender is completely different. He's stood up for men\boys every chance he's gotten. He talks about being a father of 2 boys and how much it concerns him how they will be treated by society as growing men. He has even said we need to fundamentally re-think how boys are raised in society because how the changes in society are leaving men specifically behind. In that context what he is saying makes perfect sense. We as a society must not leave boys alone to their own devices, we need to give them actual guidance, mentors, and strong men to look up to. Boys are failing behind and he is one of the few Democrats out there bold enough to say it.

That's quite an assumption there.

I am not sure yet what to think about all of this. I have the impression that Yang is still steadfastly supporting a ton of pro-MRA policies, but I would be absolutely lying to myself if I didn't admit that a lot of the comments he has been making lately are really making me question where his loyalties actually lie.

At the end of the day though, there are a ton of bad candidates, so I won't pass final judgment until the very end. Who knows what horrible things his competitors could end up saying between now and election day.
