People recognise the existence and validity of individual men's issues in isolation.

Family court reform has a lot of casual supporters, for example. Including women and even feminists (the ones who call themselves feminists but don't know anything about the ideology).

Something else you see discussed are double standards. People even talk about this generalized in terms of men. Double standards against men / husbands / fathers is absolutely something that people recognise as real in society.

The difference is that we don't talk about this in terms of oppression, sexism, or discrimination. People don't see it as an issue of human rights or equality. Or even as something that needs to be changed.

There was a paper published a few years ago that talked about men's health issues, and how the academic evidence for systemic and institutional problems in this area are overwhelming. But we still don't do anything about it because people see men as individuals who are responsible for their own problems, instead of being shaped and victimised by society.

This is more or less my take on the issue as well. Like One time I saw this post in r/mensrights that said Sth in ballparks of "What could we do to bring more female MRAs" or female advocates or Sth like that. And It just....sounded bizzare to me.

Don't get it wrong, Huge thanks and gratitudes to Our sisters, I mean it genuinly, but.... How the Hell am I supposed to expect women to advocate for Men's issues while Men themselves are completely oblivious to their own issues, and in many cases outright dismissive or even hostile towards them? Why the hell should women do Sth for you when you yourself don't do jackshit for it?

I think the most important Thing that we have to do right now is spreading awareness by all means possible, anywhere, anytime. Some might be dissmissive or hostile towards it, some may ridicule, some may not even care, but.... It actually doesn't matter as much some may think it does, at least right now, in this stage.

Of course some would be those towards this idea. But It's Natural, people generally had similiar reactions towards many progressive ideas in different times, including for example Women's Rights and issues back in the Day too. But They will hear of it. They would know that our voice exists, that such position exists, That there are Some people who believe Sth not mainstream. And That is a huge start. A foundation to build Something big. Something important, for a better, more equal and truly egalitarian society.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

If you ask people on the streets about men's issues, most will say "men don't have any issues", or "I can't think of any". There's videos of this, too. Men's issues don't really get talked about in real life enough. It's only women's issues. Most funding, tv adverts/commercials, etc, are about women. On the London underground people have seen posters like "violence against women starts with words", and it's a man looking in the mirror on the poster. Most men, and women don't care either about men's issues.

In 2014, a video done by an organisation called "mankind", did a domestic abuse video on the streets of London, and when the man was being shoved and abused by the woman, people just laughed. When men have genital mutilation done to them, it's seen as funny. I remember a video on YouTube of a group of female hosts, on a tv show called "the talk", or something like that, where they laughed at a story of a man's penis being cut off by his wife because he wanted a divorce. Articles writing stories of men being mutilated is done in a light-hearted manner. Women's mutilation is more serious.

Men infantilise women a lot, too. The courts system proves this with women receiving lower sentencing or no sentencing for similar crimes. "Never put your hands on a woman", instead of "keeps your hands to yourself".

Maybe I'm being too cynical, and maybe people do care.

I disagree, everyone is acutely aware of the issues men face. Its just that... people simply do not feel sorry for men, MRAs call it the empathy gap. People believe that Women can't rape Men or that even if it happens, its not as bad. Men who are homeless and suffer from MH issues are just called losers/lazy bums.

because we are used to the idea that women were historically oppressed specially by men, rather than ideas like everyone was historically oppressed by gender roles and traditional norms.

See, here's the thing. If people genuinely felt sorry for men's plight, they would still try to help regardless. I don't think that Feminism has "brainwashed" society to not support Men.

I’d argue that men’s largest issue is the active derailment and minimisation of men’s issues. It’s no accident that men’s issues don’t make the headlines.

If it were mere unawareness then it could be remedied with education. It cannot. At least not while there is a substantial percentage of the population who will fight to keep the debate silent.

There is definitely awareness about the issues that men face but society en masse just accepts it like Normal and has no intention of changing anything. There's another obvious problem that we can't blame women or feminists for anything, even in reddit, actually pointing out something wrong that many women do will result in backlash or it getting removed. While there is a free pass to blame the whole of Men for any issue ever. Just recently regarding men being more lonely and single, no one is talking about the rising shallow standards that (some or many) women have on men, instead they're blaming men for being "not nice enough" Which is really stupid imo. Another point is that there is basically no empathy for most men, we just take it for granted that many men have to die for our priveleges. A cartel cuts arms and legs of many men, no one cares, if they just did it with one woman, everyone loses their mind. We really need to stop taking men for granted and also Women(not generalizing) need to develop some level of empathy for Men since many women just think and kinda make it their identity that women are more oppressed which I believe is a pretty recent phenomenon, because women of previous generations do talk about how hard it was for men back in the day always facing violence and hardwork and taking care of the family somehow and they also tell younger Men that life is not gonna be easy for them.

The core of a human rights based approach is the identification of rights-holders and duty-bearers. And the recognition that duty-bearers (eg governments) have obligations to rights-holders (eg men).

I guess most people realise it but no one care because women are a source of affection, women are beautiful while men are seen as the opressor, even though only a small minority of them are. And the worst of all as privileged, even if you yourself didn't experienced any of so called "privileges" you are seen as so, then why would anyone care about you issues?

It is like a rich kid complaining, why anyone will listen to him? Isn't he rich, even if he is depressed it couldn't be so bad right? Well until the day he takes his life away but then it is too late.
Except most of us here are broken af !
