Last time we spoke she wanted to come to an agreement so we can signed off on the divorce, she’s claiming to be helping me out by letting me keep the house but she wants me to buy her out of half the equity. Her dad gave us 20k to use towards the house when we were in the process of buying it but I never used that money instead i put it away for savings and I paid all closing cost from my savings instead.

I told her this a while back now she saying I need to return that money back to her dad and she wants 50% of my stuff to include half the equity of the house. I’m not sure how this in her head is her helping me out by letting me keep the house? I told her I won’t give her the money back until the divorce or if she wants to fight it then I’d just end up keeping half of that money.

She claims she’s not money hungry yet she made this all about the money not sure what to do. Im going to have to talk to a layer thankfully we’ve only been married for 4 years with no kids. What’s could I be looking at in terms of just letting things be settled through lawyers.
