I just wanted to share that my ex tried to really rake me over the coals despite working in social services. She has had refuse to work syndrome starting a few months after we got married a decade ago and always used the threat of making me her wage slave if she ever left.

I definitely took a financial hit in the divorce but was able to keep the house, 50/50 placement according to my initial schedule and the best thing....she was forced to get a job and child support is based on if she worked full-time. She purposely chose to work part time using being a parent as an excuse. She got a real wake up call when she was reminded that I'm also a parent but still work full time to provide for our children. There's still a income discrepancy so I do pay some child support but it's only $200 monthly.
