I’m pretty sure this was the case of the twin Watter girls, right? AU press just isn’t allowed to name them now. (Supposedly a law meant to protect the identities of the underage children, though it’s always very convenient when child abusing mothers cannot be named…)

The mother, Cassie Watter/Doubleday was a local prominent Feminist before she fled in 2014.

Then she fled and an anonymous “maternal family member” (likely the woman’s mother) of the children wrote an anonymous letter in support for her child abduction.

There was a website likely ran by her academic Feminist friends called friendsofcassiewatters.com which supported her in her child abduction efforts.

Then she was arrested in in May 2018, with details that match from the article anonymizing their later sentencing. This article about the mother’s arrest seems to be the last article to name any of the parties by name.

It's Australia, the sentence won't hold up. She'll cry to the therapist she can see for free in prison and have her sentence commuted in under 2 years

I'm genuinely shocked at a few things here.

That this happened in Australia, the judge was and honest in his ruling, no bias against the father.

The article also properly written, showing no agendas.

Something similar has occurred twice here in Spain. Both mothers were declared guilty but the socialist/communist coalition government gave them a partial amnesty. Declaring them "protective mothers".

In Spain there have been two cases like that, in which the children were literally kidnapped by the mother. Mother was found guilty and sentenced to prison in both cases, but then they were pardoned based on a recommendation of the Ministry of Equality (yes, this exists in Spain and it's unironically named in such an orwellian way, despite being a ministry of feminism and female supremacy) and went scot-free without ever seeing the inside of a prison cell.
