Ben Shapiro Not A Fan Of Fashion Freedom For Men (Kulinski)

Kyle Kulinski does a nice takedown of "libertarian" Ben Shapiro being fine with local ordinances banning men from adopting traditionally feminine clothing … although Ben is perfectly fine with women dressing in pants that are basically indistinguishable from (what used to be considered) men's. Kyle also usefully points out a number of fashion trends where what was considered 'masculine' and what was considered 'feminine' flipped over the years.

Kyle doesn't bring this up, but Ben's stance strikes me as fundamentally at odds with the first amendment, something which has lurked in the back of mind while listening to much of the right's transphobic discourse. How on earth is it possible to define what "drag" is, for example (something that would presumably be necessary in order to enforce laws against "drag" performers giving readings to kids)?

Women by and large are legally free to dress in clothing that used to be considered masculine (though there are social limitations on that freedom in different contexts). Men should have the same freedom to do so.

Disingenuous people always say they want one thing but want something else. Just like how Feminists claim to be egalitarian and then go on tirades about how MRAs are Alt Right and thus Men's Issues are not valid by proxy. Shapiro doesn't care about dress codes of Men, he's just using that as an excuse to make being a TransWomen illegal. Idk why he doesn't just open with that. I just realized that Vaush&Shapiro are the same guys but at the opposite ends of political spectrum, both are nerdy looking guys that are obsessed with debating and "owning" the other side and have no interest in casual conversations that is more likely to sway people's views.

I honestly don't remember a time when ear rings or long hair was a taboo for Men. It just fell out of fashion for Men and then came back. The only dress code that ticks me off is the fact that guys aren't allowed to wear shorts in formal settings.

That's men and trans women to be exact. Not that Shapiro distinguishes between the two.

Anyone with male on their birth certificate should be banned from wearing a skirt, unless they're a Scot, or Chinese, or Burmese, or Polynesian, etc. They'd better write these laws carefully. Otherwise I, being ethnically Han Chinese, can wear a skirt and claim that it's "traditional" male clothing per my own traditions.

Guess that's "small government" for you.

I think Ben's just furious that some men rock a skirt better than women do and it's making him have feelings he feels uncomfortable with.

All jokes aside, who fucking cares what you wear. I have yet to see a crossdressing androgynous twink commit a mass shooting.
