Western society at its core is freer and more individual than previous societies. That’s why it comes under attack from people who don’t realize they have the old point of view. Western society was originally built on a dream of taking the old bricks of family, church, and classic morality, and use them to provide checks and balances against each other, to give everyone a huge incentive to work together, to use greed against itself. It has largely been dismantled now, but that was the dream.

What I've noticed being from an 'Eastern' culture myself is that women are held more accountable by other women. There is no deranged psuedo-lesbian sisterhood like it is in the West where women relentlessly uphold each other at the expense of literally everything in society (especially men).

The women from these cultures are also far more grateful for the work men do for them, they were raised to be appreciative of it. Western feminists on the other hand despise men and massively under state their importance.

Western society is more gynocentric, Eastern society is more toward the middle and even androcentric at times, but I much prefer it this way as men seem to be more fair on women than vice versa (when they are each in power).

I think all societies kinda suck. That its just a spectrum. And each has their own problems, and expressions of the same fundamentals.

Basically humans tend to be ego centric, dishonest, back stabbing, greedy, naïve, etc.

They have good qualities, but those are often over ridden in the quest for something for themselves.

I've been to over 30 countries, been living in a culture not my own for 27 years...

And figured out that where there are humans, there are problems, where there are more humans, there are more problems, where there are less humans, there are less problems, and where there are no humans... there are no problems.

Every human creates problems...

So the real struggle isnt about which society is better or worse, its about who gets it, that the war is themselves, and curbing their own monster by observing their own thoughts, and realizing yes Virginia, theres a monster in here with me, and I need to run it off every time its talking crazy talk..

Methinks Humans pay a price for our unusual intelligence; that its not far to the Insanity State Line.

And Normalcy appears to be a mass psychosis... its no guarantee what so ever of sanity.

But, it doesn't take a Zen Master to realize that there are good motivations and good habits, and good actions, but they all would require "good thinking", and I observed quite young that most people were mentally lazy...

You actually have to push yourself to get into a good thinking habit, and whomp that monster on sight.

If you want a better society, be a humble person...

All these people held up as leaders or important really aren't much. its all money based.... artificial.

Money is not an indicator of quality humans.

Quality humans, are into things like human decency, and personal integrity, and realizing they aren't perfect either.

Your car doesn't make you a better human... unless you use it for good things.

What you know doesn't make you a better person, unless you apply it doing something positive...

And agreeing with everybody else, is the best way I know of being wrong.

One of the worst things IMO is that they ideally try to be egalitarian, but use a social Marxist lens to apply corrections. They attack anything meritocratic in order to push an agenda that is anything but egalitarian in practice.

Alcohol consumption is a strong part of Western Socialization, i don't really get it. Also, due to the post-religion nature of the west, everyone's personal values seems to be materialistic&science based. Science can explain how the sun works but it can't be a foundation for morality and give us meaning in life, and its what modern western thinkers seem to struggle with.

P.S: These are just my pet peeves with the West, i don't think west is "inferior" to East or Vice-Versa. West&East have been exchanging ideas since forever, the dichotomy is exaggerated.

I’m not even going to touch the dumpster fire of gender and social politics sooo… Just like how western society were before the baby boomer generation, Eastern societies know, respect, honor, grit and hard work. They are most of the time homogenous, and do not try to change or go beyond the norms for popularity or fame. They see tradition as necessary for their lives, these things teach them good morals and about life, the parents raise productive members of society, not children. This was how the whole world was before liberalism said that strong empires and armies are a bad thing ever though natural selection said otherwise. This was the way it was before weed, electronics and alcohol controlled our lives starting with the boomers who demanded that a nation like the US should satisfy its wants instead of its needs , like the need to save for the future of their civilization or of world security. like Rome the generation that got comfortable in their empire also saw their empire burn, and that is where we are headed now. The liberals and boomers see no point in showing restraint so that’s why we may see the calapse of the US within the next 100 years, just open a history book.

Because we already have high cases of STDs, HPV, HIV/AIDS, and or HSV type 1 & 2 in the west from first world westerner women/girls who had no self control and being spoiled too much while they had the Mean Girls Era mentality. Now eastern women are getting more popular and attractive. Unlike ethnic minorities of women and girls, those first world westerner women/girls has high school mentality who are bunch of toxic narcissists, psychopath, sociopath, narcopaths, and dark empath Pick Me Girl chameleons.

Now all of sudden, they accused against us that we're "stealing" their men and "seducing" them when in reality they're the one also stealing our men (non-western men) from us while heading overseas with their golden pussy syndrome privileges. But when it comes to Passports Bros, they start flipping their own shits and start attacking us. WTF?! First world westerner women/girls are straight up toxic af! They even assume that we're "uneducated". Smh

So I accidentally hit enter too soon, and reddit won't let me edit stuff in my previous post or post a reply to it for some reason (400 bad request) so I'll just post this rest as a new comment meant as a continuation of that other one.

Feminism is doggedly determined in finding a world where men as a group conspire to oppress women as part of some grand scheme, and that all men have power over all women. This is the basis of the patriarchy.

They'll say it's not some grand conspiracy, and they don't think all men have power over all women, but by and large it's a distinction without a difference. Feminism is convinced of the patriarchy, and sees it as the source of the majority of the ills of the world. It is convinced the world would be better if we can overthrow the patriarchy and wrest control away from the violent power-hungry men that control it to make things more fair and equal and just for everyone if we let women in.

I don't disagree with the violent power-hungry men at the top, because that's kind of what it takes to get to the top. what I disagree with is the notion that either all or most men are like that, and especially, the mistaken notion that all men benefit from the presence of other men at the top. Feminism seems to have no idea just how much men can be oppressed by other men. Women have a moderate in-group bias, so they prefer women over men and treat women better than men, while men have a weak out-group bias, so men also prefer women over men and treat women better than men, albeit weekly. The end result is that everyone cares about women and nobody cares about men.

Feminism cannot see this however because they think men think like women, and that men have the same in-group preference for men to help other men at the expense of women. They do not understand that a lot of men will happily oppress and backstab other men, if it gets them a better chance of getting with the woman they want. Women will do the same to other women as well, but when there is no competition, women treat women as a group better than men treat men as a group, and feminism is deliberately blind to this. They cannot ignore this after so many years of having it repeated at them.

Same as the above really, feminism is also doggedly determined to ignore most of men's issues, and thinks that the only real issues that men face, are the issues that feminists can find. If you're not a feminist, and especially if you're not a woman, your opinion on what your problems are, what causes them, and how to address those problems, is misguided at best, irrelevant in most cases, and actively rejected at worst.

They don't want to hear from men, they don't want to listen to men, they don't want to share with men on an equal footing. They want their issues to be recognized and addressed (which I can absolutely agree with), but they demand their issues to be addressed, above and beyond any and all issues men have or talk about. It's not equality if women's issues always take priority in all cases, even with the most benign women's issues like manspreading or mansplaining, against the most serious issues men face, ie significantly higher suicide and homelessness rate, and systematic medical, judicial, and penal discrimination in cases of rape, domestic abuse, violence, and anything that has to do with marriage and divorce.

It's like, 9 out of 10 victims of violence and murder are men, but we're going to spend 10x more money on the 1/10 victims of murder who are women killed by intimate partners.

If it's about equality, you look at where most of the people are suffering and address that for the greatest impact. If you are solely and exclusively looking at issues where women are disadvantaged, and never once look at where men are disadvantaged, then you can't say it's equality if you treat equality like a one-way street in favour of women.

Piggybacking on the last one, feminism is hypocritical. It says it's all about equality, but treats equality like a one-way street in favour of women. It says it cares about men and men's issues are addressed by feminists so you don't need men's issues groups, then kneecaps men's issues groups and completely fails and neglects to address men's issues in any meaningful way.

Feminism doesn't address men's issues, feminism stifles discussion about men's issues so we stop talking about them, in favour of talking more about ever less important and ever less relevant issues women face, like saying how AC is sexist.

I'm totally fine if feminism completely drops the "equality" line and overtly say they only care about women. I'm fine with that, because that's pretty much exactly what they've been doing. Claiming they are for equality however and that they care about men is extremely hypocritical at best, and downright mentally abuse and gaslighting at worst.

This makes society worse because it forces society to actively ignore many issues that significantly impact most people, since it harms men directly, and harms everyone else who are close to those men indirectly.

Feminism can absolutely declare itself in support of this or that man depending on what that man does, but feminism is increasingly hostile to men as a group, and the complete refusal to see it or acknowledge it is only making it worse.

There are two things I want to point out before I write the rest, and it's two things we have to make sure not to fall for when we're romanticizing the past.

1) There's this prevalent notion that things were better before, that society is falling, that the new generation is lazy and failing, and that things would be better if we just returned to how thing were before. Quote:

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.”

This feeling is so common and popular the above was written by Socrates more than 2,000 years ago.

Turns out when you ask people when was the best time to be alive, they don't answer with a specific year so much as they answer with a specific time in their lives. Everyone thinks the best time to be alive is back when they were around 15-20. We all have this view that things were better before, but it turns out that's mostly before people became jaded, cynical, disappointed in life, or before they hit significant struggles.

Turns out there is no single best time to be alive, and if we think it felt better back in the days, it's because it felt better, likely not because it actually was better.

We can't rely on feelings, we have to rely on statistics.

2. Things actually were better in the past, specifically in N America. This is due to WW2 largely. Europe had been bombed flat, Asia was destroyed, and there was largely no other developed nation with an intact manufacturing bases except for the US. This is when the US economy boomed, when manufacturing jobs were at their highest, when computers and electronics were starting to be seriously researched, when electricity and radio and telephones and televisions were spreading throughout the world.

Nobody could rival the US, and so the US benefited massively from this. This is when you had the period of stay-at-home moms living in suburbia with the white picked fence, able to do whatever she wanted at home while the father went out and earned enough money for the whole family.

THIS IS AN EXCEPTION, IT IS NOT THE NATURAL STATE OF BEING.

This was the single best economic time in the history of the US, and there were basically no major depressions or recessions with more than 5% losses between say 1950 and 2007. It was a time of unprecedented economic growth and stability.

So when we're thinking of the good old days and how one man could earn enough to support a family of 8, this was NOT NORMAL, and it was also not destroyed by feminism and forcing women to work. Yes, doubling the workforce puts downward pressure on wages, but wages were going to fall anyways when other countries caught up, when Japan becaome a booming centre of technology and manufacture, then when China and India caught up and started making massive amounts of cheap products.

Changing economic realities lowered the income of N America so that a single person going out of high school working in a factory could no longer support an entire family on their own. It was not solely due to feminism and women entering the workspace.

So with those two disclaimers out of the way, I'll point to a few things that annoy me with feminism and why it's causing problems in societies.

For the record I agree with feminism on like 90% of the stuff they say to help women with their own issues, I disagree with feminism on almost anything that has to do with men, because it just doesn't seem to want to or care enough to understand men's situation.

The issue is open-mindedness.

The Western society has become open-minded enough to accept a factually incorrect "feel good" narratives, all of which follow the same logical structure and originate in the French revolution's left-wing. Examples of this are feminism, nazis, communism, etc.

Following the same core principles are the Eastern societies, with the focus being tradition, which becomes increasingly disfunctional as society progresses, because it does not create a pressure to improve.

Fundamentally, both lead to societal collapse, and to avoid it we need to abandon comfort to pursue what is true and let go of the safety of tradition when it becomes harmful.

In Western society, the rise of narcissism. People are becoming more and more narcissistic. Narcissism is actually rewarded in society now. Like narcissists have a higher chance of being promoted and moving up the corporate later.

But narcissism makes society a dismal place. It eats away at spiritual/humanitarian values.

Female narcissists use "feminism" as an excuse for all their abusive behavior. It allows them to control/manipulate men. And everyone believes them. When really they just a personality disorder. They can't be trusted with anything.

In my mind it’s something to do with the cultural focus being on general balance rather than unfairness/injustice/equality. In my opinion there seems to be more of a cultural lean towards gratitude, focus on the ‘bigger picture’ and the benefits and necessity that come from hardship; that part of the balance is suffering and part of that balance is that there is reward in suffering. That suffering is not measurable, comparable or to be identified with but that it’s an essential part of being human.

I feel like western culture is very focused on all the large small and specific injustices, ways of oppression, personal disadvantage and inequality, very focused on uncomfortable feelings (mental and physical) being bad and avoiding them at all costs, and very unaware of the balance and equal and opposite reactions of the things we do, create, invent and want. It seems to have become pretty obsessive about justice and therefore victimhood, very self righteous, competitive and argumentative a lot of the time it seems like we fight for and over weirdly small reaching and insignificant in the grand scheme.

In my interactions with people from other cultures and my exposure to other cultures in general I don’t see so much of that. People seem to have a wider view and find things like family, food, experiences, learning, and music to be most important and identified with.

It goes deep too even how other cultures allow things like work ethic, good intentions, eagerness to learn, morals and kindness to earn someone respect and further their learning or job options, in western culture you can’t get a job as a mechanic because you love learning and you’re kind, there’s hoops, many hoops. Have we just in our endeavour to make things simpler and easier made them much much harder and more complicated? Does primal mean basic and inferior or does it mean most important, fundamental?

An interesting question, thank you for asking! You made me reassess about why I'm on this reddit in considering my answer.

I'm not an "anti-feminist" any farther than the I support idea of equality. I feel like "feminist" in modern terms has become synonymous with a violent "females going their own way" movement. To that extent, I'm also an anti-MGTOW. I think men and women are equal overall but typically excel in and prefer to occupy different roles in society. However, popular media/culture seems to have excellent rebuttals to MGTOW-like ideology and less for FGTOW. Since I value a balance, that means that a lot of my observations/opinions regarding popular media/culture come across as anti-feminist when what I'm really trying to say is that the average person is only 50%-ish capable of dealing with the world around them and that we all need each other and we need to respect each other's contributions and requirements in society.

I don't particularly revere Eastern culture nor have I explored it much. If I had to mention something I do respect about it, I would readily say my understanding of their importance of family. I think the "gender war" I mentioned briefly is terrible for our society and that for many reasons I'll gloss over in the interest of keeping my response at novella rather than dictionary length, has resulted in a spike in single parent households (SPH). I think SPH are poisonous to child development and spark more violence and resentment that feeds this cycle. I think SPH are the number one cause of societal disconnect in the U.S. today and I think that neither men nor women are responsible for it alone.

So to that extent I'm pro-peace between the genders and I'm here to try to remind angry men that they're right to be angry about mistreatment but wrong if they use it as a weapon against other people. As many people in this thread pointed out, our lot in life is to work very hard to provide for someone. Before pointing a finger at an "evil woman" we need to self reflect on whether or not we're fulfilling our role dutifully and ensure we're not being swept up in news cycle drivel pumped out to boost views.

I'd do the same in the anti-men reddit threads I view but they are much less receptive to my opinions. Not that this reddit is some gold standard of free speech but if anti-feminists is the tin standard they are the...aluminum foil standard? Slightly worse, is my point. I typically don't get blown out of the water as much here and many of them I'm banned from participating in.

Just my humble opinion, but..

I think it's to late, the boundaries of western society are no longer relevant. The same debased lifestyle ideas and influence found in westernized countries, are increasingly being adopted in the most remote villages by impressionable young females. A catastrophic social change has to occur or this will not end well for anyone.

I think a more appropriate question for this post should be:

"What's wrong with the world from an.."
