This isn't an RP problem, but I'll weigh in anyways.

He can only hurt you to the extent you allow it. Offense/Injury is taken, not given. An ex will often say things that are intentionally hurtful and, quite often, either partially or wholly untrue.

To me, the only thing that might make his words valid is if you think he's right. Do you? Do you think you can't do better than a spiteful, egotistical man's parting shot at you? Really? Is your self esteem that low?

Personally, I'd get a second opinion. You broke up for a reason, did you not? One that, I wager, was mostly on him?

Don't waste your time on the venom of others. Live well, carry on, and grow a thicker skin. There will always be people who try to hurt you. Only you can choose to let them.

It's very unlikely; hypergamy dictates that you'll move onward and upward, or at least make every attempt to. It's okay to grieve the end of any relationship - let comments like those speed up the process, not slow it down.

His comment itself proves you will Any guy I met that says this or something like it is usually douchey and narcissistic. Which means he's probably unwilling 5o change his behavior or grow. He will just keep bouncing from girlfriend to girlfriend, all of them leaving him for the same reason that he denies

Finding someone who can treat you better will be easier the faster you forget about him because he’s trying to put you down and make you doubt your ability to attract better than him
