Men made up 7/10 drug overdose deaths which amounted to 53,992 deaths in 2021. I know not a large majority of these are just drug overdose and not suicides.

According to the CDC men made up 38,358 out of 48,183 suicides in 2021. A firearm was the most used lethal method in 2021 making up 54.64% of all suicides followed by suffocation at 25.08% and poisoning which apparently includes drug overdoses at 11.56%. With these numbers in mind that means that the number of male suicides by firearm amounted to 19,273, by suffocation amounted to 9,667, and only 4,455 by drug overdose. How is it that men made up 53,992 out of 75,786 drug overdose deaths (7/10), but only 4,455 of those were suicides? Something has got to be off.
