I didn’t change my surname because of paper work and plans on the future that would force me to change all the documents include high school diploma and all. A few of my cousins didn’t change theirs for the same reasons, some did. Why does it matter?

And then some of you say patriarchy doesn’t exist, when we live in a world a woman can’t even keep her birth name. And people like OP get angry when a woman wants to keep her name, to be so entitled to another human being like this.

And let’s not get into the fact that a woman carries a child 9 months and the child never gets her name (except Latin America). Yes this world is cucked by Patriachy.

The historical roots of women taking their husbands last name is rooted in patriarchal societies where women were considered the legal property of their husbands.

It represented the transference of a woman's identity from her father's family to her husbands family, so for you to say it's "cucked" of society that women aren't doing that anymore is hilarious.

How is this an example of feminism being cancer? Nobody’s forcing men to change THEIR names - it’s really an example of society becoming more egalitarian. It isn’t new, either; my mom didn’t change her last name when she got married 41 years ago because she was attached to her own last name. how does this even affect you?
