Ex filed in May (on our daughters 1st birthday). Divorce finalized mid July. We have a 1 and 6 year old. During the divorce we sat and had an amicable conversation. 1. We would let each other know when we met someone and planned on introducing the kids. 2. We could meet the new partner if we wanted to. 3. We would wait at least 6 months before introducing the kids.

She starts talking to her “new boyfriend” at the end of August. He lives out of state “but is willing to move here if we cannot move back to our home state”. Guy has no kids. She tells our 6 year old she has a new boyfriend who she wants wants him to meet via FaceTime before she informed me.

Last night she makes an absolutely absurd post on instagram announcing the new guy. “Finally found her soulmate when she wasn’t even looking and a bunch of other hallmark channel bullshit”. She was sure to detail the exact dates of the relationship forming. I do not follow her but my phone absolutely blew up from friends and family laughing at the absurdity and immaturity of the post. I knew this was coming and just laughed it off.

Tonight we were meeting at my house for drop off, they were oddly late as they were supposed to be at my house before I got there. My 6 year old jumps out of the car and exclaims “DAD! I just met XXXX on the phone and I saw his face he had a funny mask on (FaceTime character thing?)!”. Ex walks up and says, sorry it was totally out of the blue and they met it wasn’t supposed to happen yet. You mean you couldn’t wait until tomorrow when it’s your day? Clear the call and call back after drop off?

She told me about the the new boyfriend two weeks ago and said she would let me known when the kids meet him and I could meet him if I felt I needed to. I know nothing is in writing or enforceable, but I am so incredible frustrated that she threw out every single agreement we made with each other. We’ve been divorced for 3 months and my 6 year old is still struggling and adjusting to his new life. He expressed to me two weeks ago that he has zero interest in meeting mom’s boyfriend. I asked if he told his mom this, “yes like 15 times but mom said I will just have to meet him anyway. Why do I have to meet someone if I don’t want to.” I told her about this talk and it was totally disregarded and flipped back onto me being jealous and insecure that I didn’t want our son meeting this guy so soon. Completely disregarded our son’s feelings on the situation.

I’m not sure if this is just a rant or if I have a genuine question. I guess it would be, if and when I meet someone, she has absolutely zero right to know or be made aware of anything, even meeting the kids because of how she just handled this insane timeline, correct? The amicable understanding is completely out the window at this point.
