Perhaps, this is because women are(generally speaking)more likely to share and air their concerns when compared to men.

I assume that men are as likely to suffer fear of being victims of crime, but they are simply less likely to express it.

Although the data above indicated that women were significantly more likely to be victims of domestic and sexual violence, I suppose this is the result of men being less likely to report such offences.

P.S. If anyone can offer accurate data in regards to actual domestic and sexual violence rates by sex in the United Kingdom, be my guess.

Tbf, I think men are victimized more by c rime because we take more risks, stay out later, dont stay in groups, etc, and ultimately behave more like women in terms of risk assessment.

Women are not as sexually attracted to men they see as weak. Men learn this fairly quickly and realise they have to mask any fear they have.

Controlling and masking fear is praised within society as bravery. Boys are raised on stories of brave knights and heroes.

Most women have no idea of their inner fear many men face or how those who don’t feel fear have been fairly brutally desensitised to violence.

I remember getting a punch once at school and the female teacher asking me if I was ok in front of the perpetrator. So my answer was “oh yea he hit me but it was a pretty weak punch and didn’t hurt me much”. No way was I going to admit it hurt like hell or it made me worried about break times and getting jumped from behind.

Because men don’t complain or vocalise their fear or vote based on it there is little political pressure to help or act on it to ‘make men feel safe’. We get good at dealing with violence.

What we are enjoy good at is the emotional manipulation and games. Women use language and manipulation as their forms of violence and we often as men find ourselves within incredibly abusive relationships and situations as a result.

This is natural if you are physically stronger then it makes sense you get better at physical violence and if you aren’t as physically strong you get better at linguistic violence and manipulation - your skill points go into deception and persuasion!

For a more equal society to happen men need to be more honest and vocalise the impact a tiny minority of bullying and violent people have on us. We also need to be more vocal that violence against boys and men isn’t acceptable.

We aren’t cave people anymore we ought not to be going around hitting each other.

Women also need to rationalise their fear into what’s realistic and what is just total scaremongering.

Thank you I've been telling my boyfriend this for the longest time, I get super worried when he goes to work cause he works overnights at Target and he parks in their underground parking garage, where anyone could come in. It worries me cause I worked with this guy years ago who got beat up in a parking garage and hit in the head several times with I can't remember the weapon, it almost killed him, instead it took a normal self sufficient man with a career and a wife, not sure about kids, and turned him into pretty much a 6 or 7 yr old child, a really strong 6 or 7 yr old child. Thankfully he had a great wife who stayed with him and took care of him, I worked with him at Dillards in 2004 and the incident happened in the 80s I can't remember the exact year the wife said, I want to say 87.
