An emotional man is often interpreted as being potentially violent, or unpredictable in nature.

The standard female position is often that the man was abusive, controlling, violent etc. if the guy appears emotional then they are playing into the opposing party's narrative. Essentially proving the other party's case.

It's good advice for any legal process tbh, be prepared, calm and collected. You want the judge to see them at their worst. If you appear calm, cool and collected it can help prompt them into outbursts both in court or online. Both of which can be documented and used against them.
