this however does not explain this:

nothing does, except fanfic. sliding into a strangers dm's is rude, desperate behaviour. sliding into the dm's of and immediately flirting with old school friends is unlikely to go well as you know enough about them to focus the conversation on something other than how hot you find them, but that was all you were interested in.

the last time you saw a guy, he used introvert as a perjorative, nobody would look at him for some reason, and he was identified as the notoriously ill-defined 'simp'. so this very real character slides into the dm's and hits you with a pick up line. feeling sexy? no? that sounds fucking stupid? yeah you're right.

Esp if you get fit and it’s looked like you changed. People become interested to see how you changed although it’s likely superficial since they didn’t care before hand
