I wrote about my experience with this on a couple other threads. There’s a place that I frequent and I became very friendly with one of the servers/bartender and over a period of months when she would see me we would usually talk and I got the vibe that she was interested. I was definitely into her but very respectful because of what she does for a living and where she works. I was always aware that part of her job description is to be nice. I also never wanted to make her feel uncomfortable so although I was friendly, I never asked her out or crossed that line. Over the holidays we were talking and she grabbed my phone and put her number in it. I texted her the following day and she never responded. I still see her fairly often 1-2 times month and we’re still friendly and I never brought up her ignored text.

Women in the service industry get a lot of attention. They get hit on constantly and they have a lot of options. Shoot your shot but be respectful about how you do it and don’t get your hopes up. She might be genuinely interested in you one moment and forget about you the next.

Imho the general rule should be to avoid bothering women at their job. There are more than enough attractive women out there, who are not atm. Only hit on e.g. a waitress if she really seems to be your type, not when you find her just somewhat attractive.

Also, the chances to get in contact with her are ten times higher, when you talk to her and get her number.

Sadly, I've mostly boned waitstaff. Good is that i learned that they mostly bone customers. BUT they mostly bone customers that they don't except to become regulars.

Fucking regulars is a pain in the ass for them.
