Women ghost because they don't want to look you in the eye and disappoint you by giving you bad news (that they weren't interested in the first place). It's a socialization problem. Most women are raised that their job is to be nice and please everyone (starting with daddy). So later on they have such a hard time saying no, that ghosting a guy is preferable than disappointing him. They do this and hope you will forget about it and move on. They do this shit to each other, but they only stay mad at each other for a day or so. That's why women seem so frustrating to us men. We are just socialized differently.

I think that by nature women are more sensitive, therefore more likely to feel guilt in such situations which ends up with them avoiding it altogether.

However, it is very, very common that guys turn into bitter, malicious assholes after getting rejected, no matter how kindly it’s done. So do not take it personally, it is not pleasant for the female either.

There are always exceptions! Some just don’t give a damn about your feelings.

If women were really that scared that every man they reject was going to kill them they probably would take off running at the sight of a man and probably wouldn’t t be dating in the first place. All it is is deflection because ghosting is an asshole move but because its out of “fear” it’s ok...

They can point out a few cases where men did get violent but most commonly a man will accept the rejection, maybe begrudgingly, but they won’t be in danger.

What it is is a manipulation tactic to avoid feeling bad about rejecting someone (which isn’t a big deal) because technically they never rejected you.

Now if you stop talking to them the story is you stopped talking to them. If you keep trying to contact them now you’re being pushy and you’re a creep. If you start seeing someone else now you’re a player. Very rarely is it out of fear.

No matter how unthreatening you look, women always feel more vulnerable than any guy. Their excuses are just easy ways to turn down guys without attacking his ego, because the biggest damage doesn’t necessarily have to be a guy hitting them, it could perfectly be emotional like an insult, or something like that.

I used to try to be kind and as a result I’ve been stalked, assaulted, and raped. And no, not all by the same man. I now ghost if I don’t know them well enough to guarantee a safe reaction. Women are regularly attacked for rejecting men and it is a legitimate fear that we have. Please understand that it is not about you specifically, it’s about the reactions we have seen and experienced ourselves. I’d rather risk hurting someone’s feelings than risk my life.

So no, it’s not an excuse. At the end of the day please remember that these are people who do not know you, and there are SEVERAL documented cases of women being attacked by men for saying “no.” So while you may think it’s obvious that you are a teddy bear, it is not obvious to the women you approach. Especially when we have to regard men who approach us as potential threats.
