Read how to win friends and influence people.
People like talking about themselves, make eye contact as if you are listening intently.
Let them finish speaking and then ask them a question. Eventually they’ll be pouring out their life story. Be genuinely curious and try to learn about whatever they’re speaking on. Almost like a podcaster
Don’t be afraid to talk about yourself too, make statements and comments instead of JUST only questions.
Read more books and watch more movies. There are good examples in both of them and often times the more you know the more you can converse.
Some questions to get people talking and get into deeper subjects.
“Honestly you seem very INSERT TRAIT but I’m curious, if you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?”
“If money wasn’t an issue, what do you see yourself doing?”
“I just really like hearing peoples aspirations, goals and all that. Tell me about yours? “
Do this but make it flirty as well. Throw in some light jokes, teasing, and poke at them in a fun playful way. Try pausing, not speaking too fast, and keeping medium level eye contact (not burning a whole in their head). It’s also very important to smile as you talk. This in conjunction with being nonchalant will portray you as smooth and eloquent.
This will keep the date vibe immaculate and you’ll have charm like Leonardo DiCaprio.

Look your not the only person out there with poor communication. Most ppl on dating apps say hi & the other persons suppose to swoon. Doesn't work like that. You could be a boring person with nothing to talk about. In that case l suggest finding more than one hobby that you can speak on, have interests. Talking about day to day happening is fine actually as long as that keeps going. In the case you run out of things to talk about you should be asking about her. If you don't want to know about her. Your either not that into her or your a narcasist. Some self reflection might be necessary because communication skills can we taught. We dont come outta the womb with ppl/communication skills.

Alright, I'm going to give you some practical advice:
Goto Google or Pinterest and search "100 Questions to really get to know someone"
Read them.
ANSWER THEM!
This will help you understand your own journey, as well as give you a list of questions/topics when communicating with someone.
As far as escalating, look for opportunities to insert physical touch. Not every touch has to be intimate or sensual. Start with a high five (no one ever declines a high five). Shake on a bet. Pinky swear. Create a secret handshake.. Hell... fist bump. The idea is just to get her used to touching and being touched by you. You set that foundation first, then escalate from there.

Communication usually isn't the problem for rookies. Escalating kino is probably what you need to focus on. Have you kissed this woman yet?
But if you want to improve your conversational skills, ask open-ended questions and dig beneath the surface of topics. Most of the time, the plot of the story doesn't matter much. It's the characters and the underlying emotions and motivations that make the story interesting. Focus on the whys more than the whats.

No, communication is defs the struggle for him. I'm sure kino is as well, but you need good communication to get to the point where the girl is actually receptive to your kino.
Good advice on improving communication though.

This is the golden question.
All talk, no action.
She's probably annoyed he's so shy, so she's finding a reason to give him a hard time.
If he was fucking this girl well, he could be a virtual mute and it wouldn't matter that much.

If you can’t even hug her man…I’d just move on and learn from your mistakes. That’s already a bad start

I think it's too broad to cover in a Reddit post really but your main roles as a male on a first date are to be FUN and to LEAD the date
Anything deeper comes after you and the girl see you two can have fun together
But really it starts with you... Do you do fun things? What is fun to you? What do you like to do? Remember when dating women you're inviting them to join you in your world you've created for yourself

A simple tip i can give you that helped me is: Be interested in the person, see if you like her, not the other way around.
And remember to not take things too seriously, just try to have fun in your way, if she doesn't like it, too bad for her.

Whatever you do, you will probably have to take a social risk so you can improve. If you keep doing whats safe you will get the same outcome. What could you do to escalate things? Try to think of a few things you can try, and see what happens. If you can get into a free flowing state where your thinking mind shuts off and you are just free flowing, that's ideal. Its the waypoint to get to.
But, I don't think the answer is complicated. You probably already know what to do. Just try to have fun stretching yourself and see what happens. Learn from it, have fun.

You've basically answered your own question. You said you don't ask a lot of questions & don't take the lead in conversation. Change both these things. Also, stay away from everyday questions. She prolly has a dozen guys asking what her favourite animal is or how her day was. Write down interesting questions on sticky notes and hand her a bunch of them on the date. Make it interesting. Stand out. Put a few risky questions in there. If she asks you the same questions, keep your responses short. Remember, the person asking the questions is in charge of the conversation. Escalate. Keep it fun.
