My dog runs up to her and basically sits on her lap

"You mind if she (my dog) said hi?"

She's laughing and petting my dog "Not at all!"

"What are you doing, writing a novel?"

Laughs "No I'm working on a paper.'

"Well if you would write a book what would it be about?"

"How much I hate school work"

We laugh I sit down like 6 feet from her as she's loving on my dog

We banter for about 3 minutes. I do the name test and she asks my name damn near before I finish asking hers

I do a slight pull away and look away like something caught my attention. She doesn't fill the gap and my dumbass kinda loses the conversation so I fake time constraint and get up with my dog and walk away with some retarded "good luck on your paper" shit. She's still all smiles though.

I walk around a bit ruminating how I fucked up with a girl showing interest.

Hail mary time, seconds on the clock

Mosey back over and from a distance "Hey listen I'm really busy right now but I had to ask, would you like to get together sometime?"

Expecting a rejection, she's all smiles "yeah sure!"

Get number, find out what she likes to do in town, ask her what her schedule is like

HERE'S WHERE I'D LIKE ADVICE

She says she's got finals next week (code for not next week) but then she says she's got the following week off before going home for break

I'm going to just text her my number in a sec with my name, but do I wait a full week and a half before trying to set the date? I plan on no texting until after her finals week unless she hits me up. I feel like a high chance flake since she's not available for a week and a half but she volunteered this info so I think she's pretty set. I know attraction from cold approaches fades quick...

Update 2: what I could've done better

I didn't "lock in" I was sitting cross legged, I should've learned back on my elbows more masculine and open, take up more space

I was expecting her to fill the convo gap when I pulled away so when she didn't I kinda drew a blank. Not thinking 2 - 3 steps ahead

Could've talked more about her in a flirty manner, the banter was a little platonic but I made enough general humor. I need to work on subtle flirt escalation

Proud I re-opened the set I had nothing to lose but would've regretted it the whole day if I didn't try for the number. Like I said I was expecting rejection on the close but never do this. Never expect rejection

Random tip: when a girl has her laptop I usually open with "what are you doing, writing a screen play/novel?" Like a statement. Obviously they're not but you can follow up like I did.
