I did, and i will give you the TL;DR.

People like you if you like yourself. If you want them to like you, they won't. If you want them to think you are cool, they won't.

Make sure you make yourself look cool, to yourself. Make yourself attractive, to yourself. Make yourself "the baller", to yourself.

Don't worry about escalating, kino or any of that shit before you actually have the balls to approach ANY girl / guy you see. When you get them balls, the kino / escalation will come much more natural to you and you will see great progress.

Here's the best thing, because you know you want to do it for gaining respect in your own eyes.

Exercise every single day. Select the ones you lie. Get fit and healthy.
Give your mind a break. Keep your thoughts clear. Meditate.
Care for people. but don't get possessive or quit your own lifestyle for being a part of theirs.
Follow a routine. Set a goal and set a routine. Don't go too sudden. Gradually make the routine a part of your life.

You'll automatically begin to feel motivated about yourself. You see, you'll feel you're reinventing yourself automatically when you're motivated.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm a senior in college as well and I've slowly been expanding my social circle. Probably the quickest change I've noticed is looking people (esp. women) in the eye. Today I walked around campus with no slouch and a slow step. I gave every pretty girl i saw a shit-eating smile and made sure she looked away before me when we noticed each other. For true PUA's I'm sure this is nothing but for me it's a pretty good baby step forward.

I know just how you feel. My first two years of college were wasted so I'm making up for it with my last two years.

Its GREAT that you realize this now and NOT after you graduated. Gives you some time to enjoy all the gazillions of girls around. Idk about you but my school has 20K some people so if I want to ditch every person I have ever known and start an entirely new social circle its so possible.

Sometimes I'm tempted to do it just for practice lol

As someone who started as a 20 year old virgin when I read this subreddit I felt very much the same as you. I took some advice from here and mostly tried to figure out what I was doing wrong (I don't do everything this subreddit encourages yet) and I have noticed a dramatic difference in the way women treat me and am now basically picking the girls I want to date.

So what's changed? I approach people more often. I use Kino - which I didn't use before. I make the girls qualify and I use body language to help me here. And I go around and meet as many people as I can when thrown into a new social setting. The difference is like night and day. I went from struggling to get dates with new people (maybe 1-2 girls a semester - mostly from classes) to 1-2 a week if I really try (I can barely manage 2 a week with my schedule and that is really my biggest limiting factor). Hell, I went to a party last weekend that ended up having a terrible girl to guy ratio... 5 girls at the party with about 20 guys. I still walked away with 2 numbers and 2 girls that are very clearly acting like they are chasing me (2 of the remaining 5 girls I brought and have long since friend zoned and the last girl was in a relationship with a guy there). Definitely give the stuff on here a shot.

Senior in college. Have always been social/good with people, but major AFC until this last year. Breaking up with a really religious girl helped a lot with being more outgoing, but seddit/RSD have really molded me into the person I am today. I know I still have a long way to go, but I've #/K/F-closed more people than I would have ever imagined this year (20+/10+/1 if you care about numbers, I really don't anymore).

People above have given phenomenal tips, but here is one thing I believe can help you up your game and social life in general - don't ignore ugly girls. First, they're great for practice, and can become your best friends. In addition, they also can have hot friends. Just chat up strangers, whether it's the hobo-looking guy at a dive bar (I did that and it helped me warm up like hell) or a rather chubby girl (who ended up having attractive friends and provided insane social proof).

I'm currently in the process of reinventing myself and it's fantastic.

I joined a club. Started working out and rock climbing again. Made friends. Hanging out with good looking chill ladies and awesome dudes all the time. Fantastic experience. Lost ten pounds. Years not even over and I have one more to go. Life it good.

I feel like a lot of people worry too much about looking cool to hot girls and trying to hide their attraction. F that. If you think she's hot don't be afraid to let her know it and that she's having an effect on you. Sometimes you can use your own awkwardness to your advantage

Make friends with a different crowd. I met cool people who got lots of pussy and made it their mission for me to get some my senior year of college. Sometimes you've got to compliment their skillsets. If your smart in a particular subject you can help them with their homework, or sellout and just do it for them.

For me it was that I was a video major, and the guy in charge of all the campuses video equipment at that point. In the communication school that gave me constant contact with new people who I shares interests with.

With this new crowd I was smoking weed regularly and getting free drinks at the bar because my friends gf was the bartender. Bartenders my friend, will guide you to the right girls by the way.

Edit: should also mention it wasn't intentional, my senior year thankfully just worked out that way.
