When I say nice, I don't mean the stereotypical nice guy. At least I'm not the guy who treats girls like princesses expecting them to like me for that

Rather, I just don't know how to stop showering girls I'm interested in with attention/giving too much. For example, if a girl isn't being responsive to hanging out/beating around the bush the typical response would be to cut her off/move on. Thing is, with me I keep the conversation going through text, snap and I just reciprocate because I think it'd be blatantly an asshole move to just ignore her.

I feel it has to do with the social atmosphere of high school but every time I think of cutting a girl off/being rude I envision the girl thinking "wow I was interested in this guy but he's an asshole" or "well he's not interested in me so I better move on"

How do I stop this mentality?
