Quick reverse field report, I'm not sure if this is common or allowed but I was impressed so I thought it might be interesting/helpful to someone. I'm living in Europe for a few months and went to Barcelona for the weekend to see what there is to see, Parc Guell, the nightclubs, museums, etc.

Walking by myself downtown I passed two guys, reasonably attractive, who looked like they'd stopped to consult something, but it's a crowded touristy area so I didn't pay much attention. Almost a block later I hear "hola!" and one of the guys from before sort of jogs in front of me as I paused. He started talking, clearly American, and asked me if I spoke English, I said yes but was reserved because I wasn't sure what he was doing. He was speaking slowly, like he would to a foreigner until I laughed and told him that I was actually from the US.

We started chatting, he said that he had seen me pass and thought I was cute etc. the same old stuff but then said he thought I was French. Nope. He started to ask about my heritage but instead started just guessing places in the world, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden etc. This was actually super effective and made both of us laugh because he was totally wrong every time. He went through the typical questions, what are you doing in Barcelona, do you live here, what do you study. But each time he guessed wildly. Then he asked what I was doing abroad and told me he thought I was a spy (amusing and was later our own personal joke which we referred back to via text). He made a joke about striking out every time and I was able to make fun of him some more.

I asked him a little bit about himself too but long story short I had to run, so he held out his phone and told me to give him my number and bring my friends salsa dancing with him and his friends some time. The salsa dancing comment was out of the blue but it was definitely an interesting idea and I happen to have lived in S America for a bit so I was enticed. When I called him on it, it turned out he doesn't know how to salsa but wants to learn.

I gave him my number and he texted me that night, a little later than I wanted (pretty much his only mistake - he knew I was in town for just one more day) and I wasn't able to meet up just because my prepaid phone ran out of money.

Writing this all out, it seems super simple, but at the same time was very impressive to me. Our conversation was less than 10 minutes but I was intrigued that he had the guts to run up to someone random on the street and would have totally gone out with him if it had worked out. He wasn't what I'd call drop dead gorgeous either, just a normal dude.

TL;DR: Daygame is awesome, and if you're confident or even a little bit goofy about it, there's no reason it shouldn't work almost every time.
