I have been studying some different materials this week, and I am just not sure what to think. My problems are in midgame, I'm opening and locking in (sometimes) but I'm not getting to the close. I thought I'd study some more materials, I think I've just focused so far on early stages since that's as far as I usually get. I decided to look at one of the shorter documents, Vin DiCarlo's Escalation Ladder. It goes step by step, quickly, through every stage, from first touch to insertion. I was kind of appalled. It goes into details like first you use your fingers to rub her clit through her pants, then you take her pants off off and rub directly on the clit. Oh really. This sort of advice is for virgins. I am getting a little weirded out by systems that are designed to turn inexperienced young men into party animals. This stuff does not apply to me. I've bedded plenty of girls in my time, I'm just off my game now and a lot of this stuff is not helping me, or any of the older guys like me.
So I decided to take a different approach. I decided to review one of the essential pieces of background material for puas, I watched the movie Fight Club. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this too. My alcoholic ex-gf said I look like Edward Norton, I see the resemblance but I'm bigger and taller. But there was one main reason I watched the film, his name is Robert Paulson. That character has been bugging me lately. He is one of the main symbols in the movie, he's a member of a self-help group for men who have had their balls cut off due to testicular cancer, and he has grown big breasts. My urologist recently prescribed me a medication to reduce the size of my swollen prostate, which is threatening my ability to piss, let alone cum. But one of the possible side effects is gynecomastia, growing man boobs. So now I'm constantly feeling my chest to see if I'm growing boobs and turning into Robert Paulson. This is not helping my self confidence.
Now the other thing that weirds me out about Fight Club is their spoofs on self-help groups. And yes, I do attend a self-help group. I'll just come out and admit it, I go to Al-Anon, a 12 Step group for people whose lives were wrecked by alcoholic loved ones. And my experiences with my alcoholic exgf really shattered me. I go there for some recovery, and what the hell happens? That's where I met The Woman. I should have known there would be people more screwed up than me in that group. But these are practically the only people I know in this town. Well, I'll get into that subject more in a bit.
So I reviewed Fight Club. I remember the first time I watched it, it put me in a really bad mood for days. That's what it's supposed to do, it makes you confront some of your societal programming that is at odds with your existence, and channel your dissatisfaction into a new attitude. I'm not sure how that's going, but I needed an attitude adjustment. I'm not sure it worked.
There were other ominous signs. I know my astrology stuff irritates a lot of people, it gets huge amounts of down (and up) votes. But here I go again. This Friday was a conjunction of Mars and Venus. It's supposed to be a sign of intense sexual energy when Mars (man) meets Venus (woman). So what did I do? I didn't go out Friday at all, it was pouring rain and I was just too tired. But it doesn't matter, it turns out this Venus/Mars aspect will last for a couple of weeks due to some retrograde planetary motions that are too complex to get into here. Now that's the big picture for everyone, but my own situation is a little different. I launch my astrological software to pull up my personal aspects, Venus is exactly one half orbit from its position when I was born, it's "Venus Opposition Venus." My astro software offers the helpful analysis, "Your love life is at a total standstill." Like I didn't already know that. One of my astrologer friends tells me, "there are no bad aspects. What people call bad aspects are just a sign of how you can triumph over adversity."
I may encounter adversity, but to have any chance of triumph, I have to get out in the field. It is a weird weekend. It's move-in weekend for the local university. Students are moving into the dorms and apartments for the new school year, suddenly everyone is back in town. And as my mom used to say, "they get younger and dumber every year." Of course that's just relative to our own age and intelligence, but it seems true. I discovered it was move-in weekend when I went to my Saturday noon AlAnon meeting, I could hardly get near it because it's on campus and all the parking was taken by parents' SUVs and minivans full of college kids' crap. And my meeting is right next to the horrid dorm where I lived when I went to this university.
At this meeting there's one girl who obviously likes me a lot, and I kind of like her, I'll call her Nurse Girl. But after my previous experiences with dating a 12 step girl, I suspect dating her could be a really bad idea (again). But she's a Virgo, and they are my nemesis. I always fall for Virgos, Taurus and Virgo are made for each other, Taurus is the sexy seducer, and Virgo loves being seduced, and demands to be seduced every time you take her, like she never had sex before, even if you've been together for years. But she's a country girl and soccer mom with 2 kids, a Nurse and a devout Catholic, while I am an urban buddhist and unemployed degenerate loner. We would be like Country Mouse and City Mouse. But opposites attract. I am usually oblivious to IOIs, until another 12 step girl teased me that Nurse Girl was giving them to me and I missed them. After one meeting, Nurse Girl was talking about some concert she wanted to attend, I never heard of them, she explained they were a christian rock band. That is so totally not my scene, I'm an old punk rocker. Anyway, at the next week's meeting, another 12 step girl told me, "oh you should have seen the look on your face when Nurse Girl asked you out to that christian rock concert!" Yeah, I know I wasn't into christian rock, but was she really asking me out on a date? I didn't think so at the time. Maybe she was. I figured I better get to the bottom of this someday, and ask her directly if she was asking me out. But if the answer was yes, I wasn't sure if I really wanted to pursue it. 12 step girls remind me of Marla in Fight Club: big trouble.
