Crazy Drunk Girl Drama. A lot of this is just crazy shit you can't control. Shoulda asked Ellen to hang somewhere else or gotten her number and left before drama got worse. So glad to be out of college. I know no one says that, but god damn life is way more awesome outside of school, for me at least.

Your mistakes:

A few things you could have done:

Put down Sharon to Ellen. Something small and not too heavy-handed, like, "Man, it's annoying how she keeps interrupting us." That will make Ellen more comfortable and show her whose side you're on.
Take Ellen somewhere else. The interruptions are a perfect excuse for a change of location. Something like, "This party is beat, so I'm heading out to <insert bar>. Come with me."
If #2 fails (it probably won't), follow through on your threat to leave, creating a sense of urgency so you can get her number. "Well, I'm gonna head out then. Let me get your number so we can meet up at a better time."

I agree with everyone you should have bounced but you should have been cool about it.

I'd also like to add that you should habve framed it as sharon being jealous and that you think it's cute. ("Awww. I think your freind sharon is jealous. You see the way she keeps interupting us?") and then suggest you go someplace else where she have to see the two of you talking. Be playful about it.
