I have a question about what I suspect is a very common problem. I am new to the community, have read some material, and it all makes sense. My issue is not so much having the stones to try things - it's cultivating an alpha/aloof attitude that isn't fake. In short, being congruent with what I am saying.

I know there is all kinds of evidence behind the "fake it 'til you make it" phenomenon, but I suspect that lifelong betas who first start attempting to strike an alpha attitude are completely incongruent and it's painfully obvious, which means early efforts with new ideas are not likely to be successful. I suspect a lot of guys throw up their hands and give up at this point.

So my question is, if you're going to go out and start trying stuff, how do you get over this initial hump and start to internalize the attitude you're cultivating, when you're likely to get a LOT of negative feedback up front?

(By the way, I'd place myself more in the "greater beta" category - have had a good deal of success before discovering the community, but want to move up from the 7s and 8s I have dated over the years.)
