The only thing I can talk about with jocks is girls.

Jocks probably get more action than the average guy and will thus have experience and interest in this area.

You may have to do some general research. Muscle cars, on the surface, aren't horribly difficult to figure out. ESPN sports center gives general wrap-ups of a variety of sporting events. Perhaps just enough information to start a conversation with. You are a nerd, as you claim, then continue to be one. Nerdism doesn't have to be limited to the internet/tech. Be a nerd! Acquire information! Get to know your target audience.

Sports. Videogames. Porn. Also, everyone in high school watched the same tv shows when they were younger. bond over that.

I think you're missing the point. Instead of trying to fit in with a clique of guys you think have access to hotter girls, concern yourself with making yourself into the type of guy these so-called hotter girls would want to be with (and it isn't necessarily some idiot who plays football. I played football all 4 years in high school and it meant nothing). This stuff about the popular kids getting laid more is bullshit too. They just lie more than other guys since they need to maintain their status. Did I mention high school guys lie about EVERYTHING?

There's also a difference between popular and hot girls. Popular girls get undue credit for being hot, while there's a lot of really hot girls under the radar who don't get credit for it. I was a shy kid in high school and realize now a lot of these girls I probably could have gotten with if I thought of it/put in the effort.

End of the day, put yourself out there as much as possible and let the chips fall where they fall. Don't be something you're not.
