First post on a throwaway account, but I hope it sparks some discussion.

So I just ate at Jhonny Rockets with a group of friends. As we stepped in I made eye contact with a waitress and she immediately smiled and seated us. After we sat down, she asked us for drinks, and all my friends mumbled while looking down at their menus. I looked in the eyes, smiling and ordered a coke. As she walked away, she glanced back and smiled at me. She came back with our drinks, we ordered food, the same routine of me smiling and everyone else being awkward. She took our menus, grinning at me. I noticed our mini jukebox wasn't working so I waves to her. She quickly ran over and asked what was wrong, ignoring the others. I requested she play "Lollipop" over the system, and she giggled a bit and walked off. Sure enough the next song to come on was "Lollipop". Our food came, and she drew the usual Smiley face for everyone's fries but not for me. For me she drew a WINKY face.

Long story short, eye contact can change a person's whole mood, and even get you special treatment.
