It's all part of the game. Women aren't supposed to be slutty and aren't supposed to want to have sex with guys outside of relationships, but they do. As a social politeness, everybody pretends women aren't slutty and don't want that, and we act surprised every time a woman does something slutty for us.

If you act brazen, like you expect a woman to be slutty for you, you're breaking the rules of the game. She can't trust you to be discreet, can't trust that you're experienced enough at the game to not out her socially, can't trust that you're experienced enough at the game to be good in bed, etc.

Also, a lot of the time, women don't fully understand on an instinctive level that they're trying to appeal to a guy for sex. A woman will just wake up one day and feel really good and really confident about herself, go out with her friends dressed a little more boldly than usual since she's feeling good about herself, she'll talk with a guy and be fun and flirty and think she's just having fun with a new friend while giving off all kinds of unconscious signals of sexual interest, and be genuinely surprised when she ends up at his apartment that night. She wasn't planning on hooking up with anybody, just going out with her friends and having some fun, and got swept up in the moment and it just happened. This is also why last-minute anti-slut measures sometimes pop up. There's this moment when you're at a girl's place or she's at yours and the making out and fooling around has been going great, then the pants start coming off, and suddenly shit gets real for her and she thinks "omg what am i doing i just met this guy im not supposed to be a slut".

It’s a particular type of hamstering called the “anti-slut defence”.

“I’m not that type of girl” > fucks you after a few hours > “I don’t usually do that”

You have to play the game to get the prize. Women want to feel desired, wanting sex is a feeling not a contract.

Also the "I'm not having sex tonight" is her telling herself she's not a slut, but she's obviously thinking about it. Keep escalating at that point.
