Please don't go into the mindset of "I need this". You're already fucking this up if you have that mentality. I take it you don't have the best of self-confidence right now, because you already come off as insecure and clingy. Why would it be weird to call her? Are you a weird dude who has nothing worth to give, or are you a cool guy who is going to make this girl's day by texting or calling her?

Now as someone who has sold phones for years, I only will test someone's phone like that if I'm comfortable with them randomly calling or texting me. I've never intentionally tried to "give my number" that way, but I certainly wouldn't test a phone like that with some random person I didn't make a connection with.

You need food. You need water. You need sleep. You do not need a girlfriend.

Learn to be confident and happy while single before you start going after women. Work on yourself, find your true passions/talents and realize that you're awesome and that life is enjoyable as fuck even without a girlfriend. You should then come to the conclusion that you don't need an emotional crutch to hold you up.

Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Don't focus all of your attention on one girl. Let go of the outcome. If it doesn't work out with any one girl, no big deal. There will always be another. Otherwise, neediness will come through in every interaction with women and will severely hurt your chances with them.

Your mindset should be "I want to have sex and relationships with hot girls because it's fun and because I deserve it, not because my self-confidence and self-worth depend on it."

Some girl wrote her name on a receipt at a store I went to. I was confused as well. Edit: B/c.. she didn't give her number.. Just her name.
