Semester has started again this year for me (and it's yet to start in the US to my knowledge. ), and wanted to get some people in the mood by sharing some of my success.

To preface, I have spent an entire week at a different university pretending to be a science student, and this week at my own opening anyone I find attractive (which... is a lot).

During class:

You don't really open in class, but be sure to introduce yourself, this is a social value MUST - don't care about what gender, # on the HB scale, or age, just do it. I personally enjoy participating in class discussions and contributing with anything of value and occasionally humor. These are used as signs of confidence, and value giving. Everyone has their own style, but my simply recommendation would be to not be silent/a nobody.

Post class

Some may argue that this is a case of "don't shit where you eat", but let's be fair, (ask)seddit get more "I like her, and I've waited 4 weeks, I want to talk to her now! What do I do?!" questions per week than we have fingers. The easiest cue is not to overthink it, and just talk. It's socially acceptable to reintroduce yourself, and talk about what you're doing. Here's an opener I used the other day, and have come to love it because of it's versatility:

"Hey, is it weird that we just had a 2 hour class, I'm walking next to you and we're not talking?"

I personally love this one, because it's got a cute overtone, it's a sincere question, and puts equal pressure on her to hold a conversation. Before you write an angry comment suggesting that it won't work, it does - for me. I'm adamant you can think of your own, though my point is that ANYTHING goes, just be willing and upfront about wanting to talk to them.

I have found that direct openers are missing a lot of context when it comes to people in your class. "Hey I think your cute, and I wanted to talk to you" is not calibrated IMHO. You can, however, reframe your interaction while you talk to them with a "I just gotta let this out, but you're actually really cute." or "I'm actually really glad we're hanging out, you're really cool.".

Out of class

The bane of our existence right? Hot girl walking by alone through the hall and you want to say something, but no idea what or how... Gotcha covered.

Verbal

"Excuse me, I just wanted to say you have an awesome style, and had to come say "hi", I'm *name *"

Yes, be direct with your openers because you might be taking up her time for something important, like class, or closing time for a specific service.

Physical

Make eye contact, wave some one over, use a direct opener.

I regularly run into people who I remember or remember me but there's a lack of recollection from one party to the other. The solution is not to say "fuck off then" it's to give them a chance to explain. But if your reason isn't "hey remember me from IT3 class in semester 2?", but rather "I just thought you were really cute and wanted to get to know you. ", it's not really any different, it's justified, it's sincere and it's clear.
