It was early in my senior year in high school, and I had been giving my buddy rides to and from school just about every day because his car sucked. His parents wanted to thank me for doing this, so they invited me over for dinner one night. My friend's girlfriend came with he HB8 friend. I had just finished a round of twilight golf before arriving, so I was dressed rather nicely, and explained this to everyone there. While we were eating, me and my friend's stepfather were sharing our similar conservative political views and a few other things. I could tell that HB8 was somewhat interested because she would ask me things about the conversations every now and then for clarification. Everything went great and we finished up dinner. Afterwards, as I was leaving, my friend comes out to my truck with me and says: "Dude HB8 seems really in to you, do you want me to give her your number?" Of course, I accepted his offer, and about 5 minutes after getting home, she starts texting me. We have nice text conversations for a while, but one day, she says: "Okay I'm going to ask you a question, but it may be kind of weird." So I'm like: "Alright go ahead." She asks me if I have ever had sex. I reply truthfully, no. IIRC she acted surprised, but I think she was thrilled at the same time. She then told me that she had before but it was only a few times with her ex-boyfriend of 2 years. (She was a junior at the time)
It's been about a week since we first met, and we haven't hung out at all since then. One night, she asks me if I want to go with her to some stupid male pageant at he high school. I really didn't want to because I knew it would be boring as shit, but I really wanted to hang out with her too. So instead of making up an excuse, I decided to go. I picked her up in about an hour, nervous as fuck, and asked her what kind of music she liked so I could put it on the radio. She said that she didn't really care because she likes a lot of music, so I put it on the pop station, because that's what most girls her age like right!? So the drive was awkward for the most part -- listening to this shitty music and not having too many interesting conversations. The "oh fuck" meter in my head starts going higher. We arrive at her school and I park. Now before I continue on with the story, there is some important background you guys should know about this high school; I absolutely hate them. I hate every single male that goes to the school. They are HUGE rivals in football. (Yes Texas football is a big fucking deal). I have yet to meet a single guy from this school that isn't a steroid pumping, narcissistic douche bag. So yeah, here I am. So we go inside to the performing arts center where the thing is being held. After awkwardly walking around while she says hi to all of her friends, we finally sit down. The pageant begins and they introduce all of the guys. I guess my hatred for them mixed with my anxiety and for some reason I started saying things like: "This is so gay" or "What the hell is this kid doing?" She would kind of laugh sometimes, but looking back, I can see how it got really old really fast. This goes on for pretty much the duration of the show, and I take her back home. In retrospect it was shitty as hell and I changed my positive first impression to "complete asshole", but at the time I remember thinking that I did a good job that night. I drop her off and she says something like "Well I had a good time" (probable bullshit) and then "Text me when you get home!" So I get home and I text her and she just wanted to "make sure I got home okay." (wtf?)
So a few days pass with little to no communication. She texts me one day saying that we need to just be friends. I get really pissed and start asking why. She claims it's because there is crazy shit going on in her life and she needs to rethink and "better" herself. (big wtf) So I call bullshit on that and ask her what the real reason is.
She says "you aren't the guy I thought you were."
^ This. This right fucking here. I think this is my MAIN PROBLEM. For as long as I can remember, I have had girls show interest from the first impression, but when we hang out again it seems to be short lived. Is it just anxiety that gets to me and I end up making a fool out of myself? That's what I really think the issue is. Is this just going to take practice and more failures to mend? What should I do? Am I even right about this being my problem? Any thoughts are welcome and thanks for reading my little trifle.
