When I wear a nice ass pants, a nice ass shirt, and gel my hair I don't do as well.

I'm not trying to insult you, but perhaps your idea of dressing well makes you look like a typical club player looking for quick pussy. Dressing in gym shorts, however, presents you more casually without an ulterior motive, which causes women to open up.

are you good looking? If you're good looking and dress down you'd appear more approachable. If you're good looking and dress up you'll look top shelf, less approachable, harder to attain, stuff like that. Same situation with girls just reversed. Dime's just hanging out in casual wear seem wayy more approachable then done up tightwads

I'm guessing that the better shape your in, the more successful you'll be. So, if your in good shape, the probability of you raking in attention from the opposite sex is much higher, regardless of what you wear.

That, and if you can flaunt what you wear, then wear it. If you don't like dressing a certain way, then you don't have to. Just be wise and keep in mind when you decide what you wear when you find yourself in certain situations where you have to fit in rather than sticking out like a sore thumb in a negative way (e.g. Nice resteraunt clothes =/= everyday clothing).

Where are you when you get these compliments?

I've found recently that wearing tshirts and a blazer to a nightclub (taking off the blazer early on, generally) I do far, far better than when I wear a shirt.

Over the past 3 months I've made some decent gains at the gym and have far more confidence in showing off my arms and I'm getting compliments on my body from friends.

I think tshirts/polos are far more approachable than shirts. Shirts often look like you're trying too hard, especially in a club. Tshirts are very casual and it looks like you're out to have a good time rather than out to pull.

I mean how many times has this happened? If it's just a hand full of times, could just be luck. If it's been happening for a year, probably not chance.

Gelled hair tends to come off as douchey. You can still style your hair without getting that 'gelled' look.
