The general consensus on Roman history is that all the things you talked about in class are indicators of the impending fall of Rome. We're taught history to avoid repeating mistakes, but then we go ahead and do so any because of its cyclical nature. Funny how that works out.

Does anyone think this is going to change soon? Shouldn't it swing back the other way at some point? This doesn't seem stable but with child support and everything, maybe this will continue to be a huge problem.

It's depressing seeing the sexes at such conflict today. We have had some optimistic changes in modern day society for sure, but relationships between men and women are so frustrating now.

Even my sister is displaying these behaviours and it really worries me, but I know she will flip out if I get her to read red pill stuff because she's in all these "women's courses" at school.. Ugh. Mom and I has the "first world women are sexual objects and so oppressed" lecture from her one morning. Mum is very conservative and pretty rp, so we both had a laugh and she got sooo angry at us.

I recently did a class in satire, and it was a remarkable example of how women blame anyone but other women. We studied 'Made in Heaven' by Peter Porter in one lecture - it's a really obvious criticism of the wife who has it all, but doesn't bother following her dreams because she is too busy lounging around at home doing nothing.

I thought anyone could see the poem was targeting her, but no, the various feminists in the room rallied round the poor lady and claimed the poem was satirizing marriage as an institution which imprisons women.

Why would this surprise you? Is this the first time you read of Rome? I've studied Rome for 24 years ( I am 29). Back when I was a child, I knew of Rome well. Now today, I don't see a Rome. I see something much worse. We are doing for worse than Rome. At least in Rome, brothers weren't shoot brothers and men weren't imprisoned at alarming rates. Women, were sloots, and as gaudy as ever, but damn if men didn't have some honor still.

I can't say such words for today's society.

It may have been bad but at least the Romans tried to control them with laws. E.g. adultery was punished with permanent exile and later on death, it was illegal for a convicted adulteress to remarry even is she somehow avoided the penalty and you could kill your wife on the spot if you caught her in the act.

OP, I dont agree. In ancient Rome women had a role. They were purely just something used to carry on your lineage. In certain times they could be oracles, priestesses (prostitutes) or wives of high ranking males. They were NOTHING more than that.

The fall of Rome was not due to women but due to a society which had started to embrace a different religion as well as other city states rebelling.

Let´s not pretend that women are any different today than they were before, they were however NOT the cause of fall of Rome. Let us not, as men, give them a larger role in history than they actually had.

What your first link says, is exactly the same as my grandfather said about my dad and his friends, exactly what my father said about myself and my friends while we were teenagers. It´s not that our rebellion has changed, but unlike women, men have a need to improve. Women have not changed, we have.

How come something that has not changed since biblical times be the cause of destruction of a whole historical era? Next you´ll tell me that great Chinese empires perished because their fuckholes got too much power...

By the way, sorry if I came across as too criticising. I purely do not believe you have studied the history of Rome and the politics that were in swing while it deteriorated.

It's interesting that the proverb "But who is to guard the Guardians themselves" is not about the abuse of power by the rulers, who have no one above them to control them. It's about lowly jail guards conspiring with inmates, in this case women locked up to prevent them from slutting around. Conspiring against the orders of the rulers and the difficulty of making sure that they do not get seduced by the women.
