It’s just assigning personal feelings/emotions to someone else.

E.g.:

say your gf suddenly starts questioning you if you’re cheating, she could be projecting that because she’s cheating
you having abundance mentality prevents/restricts her from projecting her own solipsism

Projection is casting out and making accusations of your own insecurities and flaws onto others, in an attempt to make you feel better about your shortcomings or to shift guilt.

It's a form of acting out.
